Don’t be scared of her jump down with your full weight will do the trick. Lovely bike I owned and raced them from 76 till 85 lol.

When kicking a big Maico, you want to get the piston in the right place (which you're doing!) and give the start lever absolutely no mercy at all. You should be thinking to yourself, "I'm going to stomp this starter so hard it breaks clean off and hits the ground under my boot." As long as the piston is in the right place and the gear is engaged before you smash on it, you'll have a good successful kick. If the bike kicks back violently every time, retard the timing a bit (it should kick back occasionally but not always). It's also common for people to raise their foot a little bit before kicking down - this is bad for the mechanism and should be avoided. You probably can't break a good starter with a strong downward thrust, but a gnarly kick-back from too much spark advance or a yeet from the pre-engaged top could do it eventually. Love the bike!!

This guy was kicking short little kick and he actually moved his shoulders more than his kick leg . Kick the damn thing man and don’t stand on another stand to do it 😂

Kick hard and through! I’ve watched a lot of these videos where people are afraid of starting these bikes. I raced Maico’s for years...

I'm thinking of selling mine for that exact reason... I can roll it down to Hill to start it but I'm afraid of stalling it somewhere and not being able to restart it
