Gratitude and respect from Shanghai, Mr. Gross! I had the pleasure of meeting Leon McAuliffe in Claremore, Oklahoma just a few months prior to his death. He was still playing steel guitar and hosting a country music show on the local university cable TV channel. I'm sure he and other Texas Playboys would be pleased with your rendition!

I like Dunlop DOP1656s, they are a pretty standard gauged set in phosphor bronze. 16, 18, 28, 36, 46, 56. They come with an extra 18 if you want a heavier 1st string. I like the 16. GHS has an identical set that I use which is also good.

I knew John Dopera of the national guitar owners in 1969 where he had an instrument repair shop in Escondido Ca. Him and brothers were the start of the lap guitars now called Dobros. They sold 30000 aluminum guitars in the 1930s. Under the National name. Gibson now owns the DOBRO label so these types are now called by other names like slide guitars etc. John was old when I knew but busy in his shop. I heard he went to oregon later.

This is, without doubt, the best arrangement of this classic song for Reso, on you tube. The depth and tone you can produce is just awesome. I always thought Mike Auldridge's version was the best I'd heard but , no disrespect to a legend, your's is better. Some more Beatles arrangements would be great :D keep on keepin' on.. Thanks Greg....oh, by the way, did I see a wee pic with Phil Cunninghame? a fellow Scot with nimble fingers ...

Been comparing renditions, as I'm wanting to learn this on my cittern. You have the cleanest, smoothest version I have seen on KZbin. The others seem to have a tendency to stuff in extra notes or leave them out, sometimes in the same song.
