Man these takeoffs and landings are the most beautiful I have seen on yt, very smooth and not weirdly agressive

I wasn't aware they made this version in 8S Or did someone modify it ? Great job and congratulations she's a beauty

Thanks heaps for stoping by. 😃 Yes, these are available in both 6S and 8S. Although I do like these in 8S, if I had my time again, I'd get it on 6S. There's just not enough room for 2 decent size 4S batteries and even as is, I've had to add a heap of tail weight and modify the battery area to push batteries as far back as I can to make CG. Definitely stick to the 6S version, IMO.

I would tend to increase my aileron Expo rather than decrease the Rate. This will give you less sensitivity but retain full surface movement should you want it. I now tend to have low rates and Expo when gear is down and high rates and Expo when gear is up. They are controlled by the gear switch, so I don't need to remember to switch to less sensitive rates for landing. Typically, low rates of 40% Rates & 50-60% Expo and high rates of 125% Rate with 70-80% Expo. The variable settings are there to help you and so many don't experiment. Very high Rates and Expo allows one to make high speed passes very low with less risk of a nervous twitch stuffing you into the ground.

Each plane I've flown is different and your theory is applicable to some aircraft, but I don't think it works here. Not only were the ailerons very sensitive, but there was an unnecessary amount of rate/throw as well. Having my rates above 100% is pointless as the plane would roll too fast to keep track of it and would only add to the chances of crashing if I ever needed to make a quick recovery. Expo is a very subjective thing. For me, going above 40-50% starts to make the plane feel a bit doughy, lazy or nonresponsive. I've experimented with high expo in the past and I wasn't a fan. Most of my planes will have between 20-40% expo depending on the rates I set, the plane itself and how I want the plane to perform. If the plane remains sensitive on the throws, I'll make mechanical adjustments on the control rods (aka push rods) and move then to a lower hole in the servo horn. This increases resolution which allows for better control and sometimes I can even increase rates back up as a result. Planes where this is most effective are my Me-163 and recently, the HobbyKing Goblin. I may do the same thing on this Eurofighter, now that I think about it... But yeah, rates and expo will vary from plane to plane and person to person. I've met people that will happily fly any plane at full rates and usually have less than 10% expo, if any. Mind you these are usually trainer aircraft or gliders.

No, I don't own any HV Lipos. I find a good battery with a good C rating works just fine for me.

Hi mate just wanted to know if you would still go with the 6s version im looking at purchasing but don't want buy 4s batteries for one plane as I have heaps al ready and plenty of 6s 5000mah hrb .also any thoughts on the plane good or bad would be greatly appreciated. Thanks figs
@aussiercairspace
@aussiercairspace 6 ай бұрын
If I had my time again, I'd definitely go with the 6S version. You need small 4S batteries in order to fit 2 in this plane and add tail weight, so my suggestion is to go with the 6S version.

Any idea of the top speed on 8S vs. what it may be on 6S? Do you feel the 8S is a significant gain in power/speed albeit a pain to fit/balance batteries?
@aussiercairspace
@aussiercairspace 8 ай бұрын
I haven't done a top speed test on this plane yet, but I can tell you that whatever the speed is, I'd still go with the 6S if I were to buy this plane again. I bought the 8S thinking that there would be plenty of room for batteries in there, but there isn't. Not only that, I've had to add a bunch of tail weight to compensate for the extra weight at the front, and that's after modifying the battery tray and staggering the batteries so I can push them back as far back as they'll go. I can only fit 2 4S 5000mah HRB batteries in this plane, my CNHL packs are too big to fit despite also being 5000mah. The 8S sounds great and goes well, but if I had my time again, I'd get the 6S. One of the guys at my club has one and I can't tell the difference in speed compared to the 8S. Plus, he can land slower than me due to mine being heavier.
