Thats so true, you really need to get used to how the paints dry, how long the paints take to dry if you're doing wet in wet. and to see the colour shifts when dry

Such a lovely scene! And good review. Mai Meri Blu aren’t the paints for me. I have a few of their tubes , and I have their 36 pan set, and I just don’t love them. I really wanted to love them because the tins they make are super cute and nice. But the paints don’t justify the cost. They are fine, but they make bubbles when re-wetting that I never get with other dried paints. Holbein is still my number one to use, with Schmincke & DS in second .

Thank you for the video. I love your ocean painting I'm trying them now and like all paints they seem to go better with some paper than others. I used Fabriano cotton with them and the results are stunning!! I love Hahnemuler and hoped the two would be a great match... Your painting is wonderful, though!!

Lovely demo. The first time I heard about MaimeriBlu watercolors was from a couple of Zoltan Szabo books about 20 years ago. He seemed to prefer them. I've not experienced too much of the 'bits' of paint not dissolving like you did, thankfully. Perhaps the quality has changed. They always seemed highly saturated compared to some brands.

Hello Maria Very beautiful painting. Normal that the maimeri blue colors are a little different from the other brands because unlike this one all the colors are mono pigmentary while the other brands use several pigments to achieve certain colors sap green, indigo or payne gray for example. You have to get used to making these own mixtures to have comparable results but this leaves a great latitude of possibility before making muddy paints those that can happen quickly with other multi-pigment paints. I have just bought the 16 tin and the colours are really nice, out of those there are quite a few I am not keen on. In this video what colours did you use ? did you use a masking fluid to get the white or was that dry brush technique ? I have noticed some of the colours are very very weak. Viridian is so weak its like a pastel colour.

It looks like several of your pigments you are using here are naturally granulating pigments that is normal for most brands. MaimeriBlu watercolors do have phthalos, quinacridone's and many other non granulating pigments available. I have those and they are non granulating. I find that Daniel Smith brand has way more chunky granulating colors much than MaimeriBlu. Even the pigments that do not granulate in most brands will granulate in DS. Thanks for sharing!
