17:50 Humblewood is a seriously underrated campaign setting, and the playable races are both varied and well balanced. It's rare that a setting genuinely allows for any possible conflict resolution beyond "Kill everything to death and loot the corpse pile," but Humblewood has players seriously thinking in terms of, "is this antagonist really my enemy, or can I play my cards right and gain a valuable ally against a bigger threat? Are they true monsters, or are these just people who don't have a better way forward yet?" Most other campaigns entail that predictable element of inevitable betrayal from every antagonist, so players are nearly always better off killing all opponents ASAP to prevent them from becoming bigger problems later on.

So, the way I rule magic is that in order to cast a spell with verbal components, you must speak the words of that spell in a loud, forceful voice unless you have an ability to remove verbal components. This is a hold over from older editions and it makes logical sense to me. As for making magic illegal, that's a dick move. Don't do that. Having taboos surrounding certain types of magic is good, necromancy being a popular taboo because it's evil by its nature, but it should never make a player regret their character creation decisions.

13:55 we were missing 2 players so our DM offered to run a one shot with new characters. By total coincidence both I and the other players decided to roll up a Giff completely independently of each other. It was loads of fun. We not only got use out of the swim speed but the hippo build ability that gives you advantage on strength checks. 😂

Whenever I run a Ravenloft setting (especially Curse of Strahd) I typically ban my players from using Spell Jammer and Ravnica content as those don't typically fit into a horror setting. Any other setting, all I ask of my players is to simply give me a logical reason for their characters to be there.

I dont understand why they cant just brush their teeth like a normal person? I have seen so many people use and abuse magic and hold it over the heads of non casters. This was most prevalent when games featured new players. As the new players gravitated to martials and simpler classes and they didnt fully grasp all the rules of magic and when we played with players who knew alot more who often built casters. I guess now it depends on if the GM planned the campaign from the start to be there or if they moved it because of that player. If they moved it because of that player, then they could be targeting that player, or that player has a reputation. I really think more context may be needed, but I love the stories Morrow! Keep it up!

Yeah, no. I would use Prestidigitation in a heartbeat for personal hygiene and cleaning stuff, such as clothes and dishes in a heartbeat if I could irl.

Edit to better rephrase my point of view: Last story is kinda sus. The AH guy is cartoonishly obnoxious, yes. But the OP is also obnoxiously condecending, like "Oooh, you don't know what this thing is? You should look it up, you might learn something new". Believe it or not, not every Dnd-playing person would know everything about every book, especially such specific thing as Spelljammer (i don't , i don't vibe with modern/science fiction settings and won't ever play in one) "A setting where a robot from 400 years into the future fits better than a space mantis"? - i can think of several reasons on top of my head why Warforged would be allowed but not a giant bug. OP never set anything about the setting or other players, so we can't judge for sure In the end, communication is the key. Maybe you can work out something with the DM, reflavor stuff or whatever. Maybe DM just doesn't want this specific thing. Whining about it on Reddit won't help you "Play whatever you wanna play" is an EXTREMELY STINKY take, Morrow. It's literally the reason for most of the stories on your channel. It endorses shitty people to make shitty characters and then whine about "ruining the game" and "limiting my player creativity" Communicate, be adults, work out stuff with your DM, get out of the games that aren't fun for you P.S. Humblewood is a fun but barebone setting. You need to have a lot of prep and/or Kickstarter content to have a good game. Reddit has some amazing stuff for it - one of my player is a crazy otter and he loves it

Mine is Westmarches, sorta, and I learned my lessons from the last server to never do what was done to me and my friends. I think most servers/groups are fine without issues, the problem games are an exception and not the standard for overall TTRPG Games going on

I was in a star wars server claiming to be a westmarch, yet they only actually had 1 dm per alignment and gatekept anything even mildly force related behind "player quests" that took a year to even get rolling. Never did get my lightsaber on my jedi artisan before I left.

@@TigerW0lf I was leaning towards beast, because I want to make that my tiefling's features become more prominent (longer fangs and claws, longer horns) when in rage and the beast allows for biting or claw attacks.
