We ask what is our huge government for? Situations like this. One city, one state could not have managed this alone, not should they. We are the United States

Not really. A lot of these issues could be avoided if the government invested in fixing our old and outdated infrastructure. Instead, they wait for it to collapse before doing anything about it.

Had wondered about potential for disaster with prior bridge when structure seemed barely adequate for the purpose & hazards, beside deterioration from stress & loads along with marine vessel traffic, numerous & ever greater risks endured that would inevitably expose weakness. Tragedy involved personnel performing some maintenance at that time so requiring attention, the structures appearance upon salvage, tangled & twisted, ... eager for presenting the restoration methods & engineering techniques in the next structure, obviously those fenders, pillows, dolphins, or cushions among considerations when effectiveness been disputed. Also the navigation, operations, & channel aspects enhanced for present & prepared for future, ... when USArmyCE eventually use metric & SI units for engineering & science? Will any enforcement happen? There's always risk, depend how recognize, resolve, & response. Stay safe & well.

So at first two persons were "rescued" immediately after the takedown. Lately, that two has been reduced to one survivor "rescued". What is Their current truth? (Aug 2024)

Didn't the USACE Colonel indicate more channel excavation required such as below what's considered mudline ...beside those remaining span portions? Has any estimate been made for total mass salvaged? Structure seemed so delicate when twisted & tangled after catastrophe, yet the crane tipping really shows mass involved along with other risk during this operation. Stay safe & well. It's scary because there are still many bridges like this one still standing across the US. There is clearly a flaw in those pillars that hold it up. It is a very outdated design for sure and eventually all those bridges similar to this need to be replaced.
@zackakai5173
@zackakai5173 3 ай бұрын
They don't need to be replaced, just adequately protected. No reason ALL bridges over major shipping channels shouldn't have their main supports guarded by gravel embankments, concrete dolphins, or something along those lines.

Now Wes Moore can start putting his retirement funds in the bank. He knew that it was inevitable that a ship would hit this bridge and did nothing, He IS AT FAULT! $2 billion turns into $3 billion or however much he decides in the end. What happens next time. This bridge should not be rebuilt until we have responsible Government!

Depends on if the failures were due to the ship builder, the ship owner, the company that rented the ship, _or_ the crew that were contracted to use the ship. All of this could have been prevented if the city and port had improved the bridge protection over the past 50 years.
