Its so exciting that the night time shows are coming back! The finale is so gorgeous, I’m really loving the music! Electrical parade are back yay!!! I remember on the last day of parade since September 2019 I would never missed it. I remember I saw first time Disneyland in 2007 I was like 7 years old! Really magical.

Many people are too young to know that the ORGINAL 1972-1974 MSEP had a large It's Small World float at the end of the parade followed by a a few large drums with characters like Pooh dancing on them and a 2-D American flag. The parade did not run during the 75-76 bicentennial years as America on Parade took it's place, but the "To Honor America" bacon-strip finale with a screaming eagle was added when it came back in 1977. Tokyo MSEP has always had Small World as the finale float, although their DREAMLIGHTS version finale is far larger with separate floats.

I'm missing the Tinkerbell float leading the parade and the fairy dust effect it had on the entire parade to enlight the lights. You do hear the fairy dust effect in the music sometimes from when the Tinkerbell float was added to the parade in 2009. You can hear the effect sound at 6:50. Also Dumbo's Circus parade section isn't in the parade anymore. Although I am not sure if it had retired completely back in 2010.

If I were to create an ideal updated version of the Main Street Electrical Parade at Disneyland, here's how I would view it: "Good evening dreamers of all ages, Disneyland proudly presents, the most spectacular pageant of nighttime dreams and fantasy, in thousands of sparkling lights and outstanding musical sounds, the Main Street Electrical Parade!" Opening Window: - With that, the iconic "Baroque Hoedown" starts up as the parade's grand marshal, the Blue Fairy, leads the way from atop a dazzling, over-sized "dress" of sparkling blue, white, and silver fairy dust. She magically "flies" above the parade route, standing almost 21-feet above the ground. Her large wings slowly pulsate in the shimmering color scheme of her dress. - Following behind the Blue Fairy's leading float is a glittering procession of "Fiber Fairies" introduced on foot by Tinker Bell, Rosetta, Iridessa and Silvermist from Peter Pan and Disney Fairies series, respectively. The four main fairies interact with spectators directly. - The multi-color Casey Jr. Circus Train from Dumbo has been re-created from the original parade, which is being driven by none other than Goofy. He playfully pulls on the train whistle, which emits a silly whistle (and real steam) as it comes by the route. The smiley-faced engine pulls a large drum with an LED screen on either side. The screen interchanges to showcase various images, including the title of the parade, characters and designs, and other vivid animations, including films and characters not represented in the main parade. Minnie and Mickey in their classic attire stand on opposite ends of the drum. - Large puppets of Genie, Mike Wazowski, and Luminere, follow the "drum unit".

Alice in Wonderland: - After the opening unit passes by, you're now treated to the first of many scenes from many Disney classics to come your way in lit-up lights and synthesized music. Also, the music has transitioned from the 1977 "Baroque Hoedown" to an updated soundtrack which has a more modern and orchestral style. First up is the wacky world of Alice in Wonderland. It's similar to the version of the old, but with numerous differences, not the least of which is the lack of any mushroom floats. - First you see, three classic floats, three spinning creatures that spin around and race from one side of the route to the other. The first is a turtle wearing glasses, then a snail with a red shell and finally a green firefly. Amid these spinning critters, you're also treated to more classic characters from the film, most notably, the Mad Hatter, the White Rabbit, and the Queen of Hearts. - Behind this little bunch of characters, you see a gargantuan Cheshire Cat carrying Alice in a large teacup sat precariously on his tail. The float is 11-feet wide, 21-feet long, and has nearly 17,000 points of light. The cat "disappears" and reappears, and often changes colors and patterns, while his pupils spin in every which way. Alice herself talks to you as she does in the past, making comments based on her experiences in the movie. - Behind the Cheshire Cat float cavort more characters and more classic spinning critters. Here, the characters are Tweedledee and Tweedledum and the Walrus and the spinning critters include a turtle wearing a hat, a snail with a green/blue shell and an orange firefly. - Finally, the last float in the scene is another new float, a giant version of the hookah-smoking Caterpillar, all done up in blue lights. Real smoke rises from the hookah as the Caterpillar makes comments (i.e. "A-E-I-O-U", "Who...R...U...?", "How doth the little crocodile improve his shining tail...", etc.). This float is one of the longest in the parade, thus far. And when the Caterpillar float passes by, the "Alice in Wonderland" scene ends.

Peter Pan: - Straight from Neverland, the magnificent Jolly Roger appears larger and more majestic than its appearance in the original parade. The updated version includes colorful waves, and a breathtaking "pixie dust" effect in which the entire ship is plunged into darkness before being overwhelmed with glittering gold "sparkles". The large sails and flag of the ship interchange from pirate-based designs to twinkling stars, the flying Darling children, the Tick-Tock Croc, and other scenes and characters from the film. Captain Hook, Mr. Smee and Peter Pan stand at various vantage points. Peter interacts with spectators via a live mic. Winnie the Pooh: - The next unit, taken directly from Tokyo's DreamLights, is themed to that "willy, nilly, silly ole bear". This features Winnie the Pooh, Tigger and Eeyore sitting outside of a honey tree. Piglet, Rabbit, and Christopher Robin dance around on the streets, accompanied by bees whose yellow and black stripes light up in time with synthesized renditions of "Winnie the Pooh", "The Wonderful Thing About Tiggers" and "Hip-Hip-Pooh-Ray". Toy Story: - As the music changes to a rendition of "You've Got a Friend in Me", Sarge and his troops come marching down the street, letting us know that the Toy Story gang is coming. - A huge collection of illuminated toys from the Toy Story series stand at the base of a letter block-platform topped by performers dressed as Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, and Bo Peep. Prerecorded audio of the four characters can be heard interacting with each other and with spectators.

Cars: - A glowing Lightning McQueen leads a number of unique "techno" dancers in peculiar costumes. The robot-like dancers shimmer a number of different designs and colors, synchronized entirely with the lights on the following unit. - At over 54-feet long and 18-feet tall, Mack is the longest float in the parade, and has 28 moving lights, and the musical "DJ" car emerging from his backside. Mack is equipped with a 3D "light display" affixed to his sides that creates exceptional depth of image. The psychedelic display contains 26,730 individual orbs. Almost 2,000 feet of LED "neon" is used to create Mack.

Jungle: - This unit of the parade represents The Jungle Book and The Lion King. Taking a cue from Tokyo DisneySea's rendition of Fantasmic!, an over-sized Simba and Baloo appear on two separate floats, the floats glowing green and adorned with vivid blue waterfalls and colorful flowers. A Baroque Hoedown-style version of "I Wanna Be Like You" and "Hakuna Matata" are the two main songs heard here, appropriate for a unit as such. The giant Simba cub figure is composed of yellow and orange lights on a close-resembling figure (just about as close a resemblance as the Cheshire Cat is to the original) and features a humongous mane composed of color-changing leaves (think "I Just Can't Wait to be King"). Timon, Rafiki, and some puppet-made African wildlife parade around Simba, while King Louie and his jazzy monkey army dance around Baloo who like Simba greatly resembles his movie counterpart. Baloo full-on changes colors to truly match his jazzy and upbeat personality. The colors change into images and shapes as well as showing jungles, waterfalls, shapes, stripes, and so on and so forth. Frozen: - From Arendelle comes one of the parade's tallest floats, Elsa's ice palace. At 30-feet tall, Anna and Elsa stand on the balcony of the highest tower, with Olaf located at the rear in a glistening forest of snow-covered trees enhanced with 3,000 teardrop crystals. In addition to other technical effects, there are six etched window art panels on the float. Three depict happy memories of Anna and Elsa's childhood. The other three feature Kristoff, the Trolls, and Sven.

Candlelight Dreams: - 36-feet in length, Candlelight Dreams is a representation of the memorable and iconic moments from various tales "as old as time" through the Disney canon. Belle leads the unit from a "tall dress" similar to that of the Blue Fairy's seen earlier in the parade, though slightly smaller. A large rose stands right above her head and before a giant version of the Beast's magic mirror which plays unforgettable chapters from her beloved story. Her dress has 40 custom-designed jewels and the most decorative lightning caps of any float. The video screen on the mirror contains more than 500,000 pixels and presents scenes as well as floral graphic imagery and starry night skies. Following Belle are giant glowing candelabras that are framed by lovely "Dove Dancers" and a series of illuminated Court Couples. Cinderella, Snow White, and Rapunzel follow on individual platforms attached to the main Belle float. - Adorned with sparkling diamonds, the Seven Dwarfs follow the royal processional. Dopey rides at the end of the line in a special mine car in homage to the original parade. The Princess and the Frog: - The characters from The Princess and the Frog make their debut in the Main Street Electrical Parade in an elaborate unit. This unit begins when a set of lily-pads, with twinkling fireflies make their way down the parade route. Water ripples spread from the base of the pads. Parade performers simulate twinkling butterflies. Louis, the trumpet playing Alligator and Ray make their way through the pads. Followed by the small additional section, Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen make their way down the parade route, sitting in a large lily flower. The petals surround the two of them, while the leaves light up in bright, green lights. The petals of the flowers also illuminate with lights, seeming to spread a magic off of them. It appears that the entire flower is being upheld by a water spout.

I went to Disneyland o Thursday and both firework shows were spectacular and the electrical parade was so magical all of the rides were incredibly awesome but I hated Indiana Jones and haunted mansion and rise of the Risistence because it closed 2 times and me and my kids

Overall it's good but the parade feels like it's missing something especially for the Electrical Parade's 50th year. Still wish they had brought back the Blue Fairy and the Dumbo units. The new float looks good, but couldn't they have made a brand new float instead of reworking an existing one. The static characters and the lack of actors escorting the float makes the whole finale feel void and corporate. Plus it's almost like sacrilege to not have To Honor America anymore. Just saying.
