I know why there’s is an Amtrak Train every day in Old Orchard Beach. These Amtrak Trains goes between Brunswick Station (Brunswick, ME) and North Station (Boston, MA). Along with the other Amtrak Stations in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine.

There are actually about 5 round trips per day on the Downeaster. I'm not sure if every one of them goes all the way to Brunswick though. Some just go to Portland I believe. I took the Downeaster once about 10 years ago and it was a great ride.

Old Orchard is just a shell of it's self. Back in the 1960's the place was wall to wall tourists, mostly from Canada. Then in the late 60's into the 1970's the biker gangs more or less took over and drove the Canadian tourists out. When we were kids we would put penny's on the track when the train came and it would flatten them out.

Thanks for watching. Great to get a little of the history of OOB, since the first time I went up there was only about ten years ago, and I only spent a lot of time up there recently. Interesting about the biker gangs! Lots of Canadian tourists these days (and I speak no French! 😄)

That last part was especially great …were you driving toward the beach ? Looking at the horizon li looked as if the sky and ocean might have been meeting… great Maine coastal town …as always thanks so much

Yeah, the beach is at the end of that street and a huge pier goes right out onto the ocean there. There's an amusement park there too. I remember my little niece riding the carousel there back in the day. 🙂
