A great diversion from hurricane Ian. It lends a voice that all maybe lost but life does go on.

I could almost smell the fresh air of Maine. Waved welks are new to me. Blue mussels are pretty. Clear acrylic nail polish will bring out the eye of the moon snails. Have fun in all your travels and discoveries.

A little request to show us more of the inside of the shells please and thanks! Just love to see the colors, if any, on the inside of the shells! Blessings and more happy shelling!

I am at the Outer Banks of NC. You have so many rocks there in Maine. Not so here. I have found the Northern Moon snail but most have barnacles attached to them. Right now there are blue oyster shells, blue scallop, some white cockles and the eastern quahog. All the false angle wing white shells are broken. Hard to find a whole one as they are so fragile. Many pieces of driftwood showing up this month. I collect them for my beach cottage to use in the landscaping. Am enjoying your scenery up there in Maine.

Hi friend, thank you so much for watching my content! I have been to the Outer Banks before... it's unlike any place I have seen. I have not however, been there to shell for this channel - sometime soon!

Love Your Videos, Surprised you found Sand dollars intact in all of those rocks , Thank You 😊
@solaceinshelling6552 Жыл бұрын
Hi friend! Oddly enough, I often find the sand dollars whole. I think this is because when they are alive they are buried in sand close to shore and don't get battered by waves like some of the deep water shells. Thanks for watching!

I’ll be near Bar Harbor, Maine soon. Do you have any recommendations for shelling in that area?
@solaceinshelling6552 Жыл бұрын
Hi friend, I have been to a couple places in that area a while ago, but visited Acadia NP and did some hiking. I would guess that Mount Desert Island(where Bar Harbor is located) in general should have good collecting opportunities, as well as Mount Desert Narrows - any place you can pull off the side of the road and get down to a cobble stone beach would be a location that should provide you with some goodies, I'm sure. Best at low tide if possible! You might find the following: Blue Mussels, Surf Clams, Periwinkles, Dog Whelks, Deep Sea Scallops, to name a few. Good luck, and enjoy Maine!
