Everyone is always asking me how I go about finding my best fishing spots. While I’m not going to give them away, I decided today to show ever one how I go about finding new fishing spots. Using Google maps often called the “google maps challenge” for some reason. This is a great way to find a new location to fish and explore. Today I bring everyone along for the ride while I explore some new waters in search of some native Maine brook trout. Stay tuned to find out how the day progresses and maybe go try this spot out for yourself.

Good job. Fifty years ago My brothers and I would jump in the car and drive 500 miles from Ann Arbor to the Western UP and pick one of the small tributaries to the Ontonagon, pitch out tent and catch brook trout, up to 14 inches, hand over fist.

Love your channel, I'm 65 & live in New Brunswick, when I was a kid, I got up before dawn & would come back before 10 A.M., with a creel full of brook trout. My grandmother & I would cook them together and have a massive feed of trout for breakfast, those were the days!! Today here in N.B., it's pretty well fished out. It's great to watch you as it reminds me so much of what I loved in my younger years, brook trout fishing & the outdoors, God Bless you ❤️

I always get distracted by grouse, I didnt know yo guys call ruffed grouse partridge, interesting. In Montana upland bird season opens Sept. 1....we have sage grouse, sharptail grouse, franklins grouse, dusky grouse and ruffed grouse....varied habitats.... we also have Hungarian partridge...pheasant opens in october...I cooked up dusky grouse in an orange red wine and juniper berry/rosemary sauce on sunday, with wild rice and lentils...i also smoke grouse very low temp and slice like prosciutto , love your videos its such different country from ours its a great country we share....thanks for doing so...evening is settling on Churchill Montana, I got a mule deer yesterday (archery) average buck 5 point(western count) and am eating leftover backstrap tonight

New to your channel, this video got my subscription! I am very new to fishing myself, just over a year. Any advice on how to start out trout fishing? I have been advised on a couple hidden gems in VT - a remote pond and the stream that feeds it. I’m not sure if I can get away with small flashy spinning lures, or if I should just bite the bullet and try to learn to fly fish this year! Any advice?

I haven’t checked the Google map yet, but, based on where you started, I think you were in part of the area that was part of a big blow down & a few years later, burned in a large forest fire. Did you see evidence of a past burn? If they are eating frogs, try taking some Gartside Gurgler on your next trip there (no floatant needed).
@MainelyOutDoors
@MainelyOutDoors 3 жыл бұрын
Yes I did actually I have part of it on film where the trail splits that’s where I first saw evidence of it and I would stumble across burnt logs throughout my hike. The biggest thing I noticed was all the white birch regeneration thought it was weird at first till I realized there had been a fire

No disrespect to Maine as this is a gorgeous land. I came here in search of the Brook trout, I'm from Montana and I am very disappointed. In Montana there are literally dozens and dozens of streams full of trout in a five mile radius. I hit Baxter and nothing, I caught the biggest shad I have ever seen which is kind of neat but, no trout. I searched for brookies because in Montana they have poisoned them out of our lakes and rivers and replaced them with native West slope cutthroat trout.
