This is very good advice! I am 83 and lost my husband five years ago. I sold my house and now live in a nice apartment by myself! I can do whatever I want when I want!

I'm not trying to be mean, but does this mean maybe you wish you had separated from your husband well before his passing? I wonder this because it's a choice I struggle with. I've been married 2x and more than half my adult life solo. I get there are some benefits to being with someone, but the most exciting, happy and productive parts of my life have happened when solo. I'm 67 and planning to move to SE Asia next year. I can find a wife there, but I'm hesitant. But on the other hand I assume I'll have less desire to be productive and risk taking. It's like I want both, but both can't exist together. There is Living Together Apart which seems best.

The age of 70 does, as implied, represent a watershed. I can no longer take my health and physical condition for granted and am trying to gain the patience to work 'with and around' whilst still keeping active. I find that a low-desire life is very much the gold standard! When I retired I vowed to live my life 'from an behind my front door'. I feel no desire for holidays, visits to attractions, galleries, exhibitions or concerts, and the only 'stuff' I buy is a CD from a charity shop every couple of months. And I could not be more content. Every day is filled with doing exactly what I want to do, expense, stress, discomfort, expectation free. Less definitely can be more.

Nobody to be blame. It's life experience for each one of us to go through. Every parents love their childrens and still do when they are adult now. Learning and observing will awake us in our future commitments to our childrens. Do not attached permanently in your relationship, find happiness in your own way, keep busy with some hobbies, social contact important but have limits. It's boring talking over and over the common issues. Now the time to knows God better. That gives you a sense of direction in life. Need to stay safe and be happy and independent and confidence. Life is too short to depends on others and learn to solve your own problems.

So many wisdoms that millions of us fail to realise and suffer through life blaming each other and making our own dear ones miserable every single day until death, even though we set out to help and love. Life is extremely tricky and treacherous and we need the wisdom that some people have learned through bitter experience, and have lived to pass on!

Easier said than done!!! I had my daugter ,son in law and three small children living with me for a year!!! It was a nightmare!! My husband couldn't understand why I was complaining and miserable all the time!! My daughter is very strong willed and ignored my bounderies!! Eventually they left!! I still have a problem making her understand that I am 70 years old and have no strength left as a house maid!!!I think she will only realise this when she will ultimately reach my age!!!

@user-fs9uv5cm8l It is understandable that your daughter will not realize because she is young and busy dealing with her husband and children, as well as taking care of herself and her job, which is a really tough thing, especially if the husband, like most of them on our planet, are selfish and immature. But your husband? He has no business not understanding! Does he just sit and close his eyes and ears and nod away all day?

🌿🌻 Be strong. I know what you must be going through. It's not easy. But children nowadays don't understand. They take parents for granted. But sometimes we need to be firm. and say NO when you disagree . Pray to Jesus to give her the gift of understanding and then talk to her. You are no one's doormat. 😊

🌿🌻 l just turned 79 on 3rd July. To me age is only a number and l try to be cheerful and take life One Day At A Time. 👍 My husband passed away on 26.06.2021. I have three special sons who l look after with so much care and love whilst my husband was busy with his career and in his spare time trained athletes honorarily. My eldest son is 50 + . Today, It is difficult for me because sometimes l get tired doing the household chores since l don't hire a maid. I am of the belief that God helps those who help themselves. 😊 l have taught my darlings to be independent and they also help me cope with the housework. Each morning as l get up l just ask the Lord to give me strength for each new day. We have surrendered our lives to Jesus and only depend on Him and l am happy to say that He is faithful. We have also traveled extensively in the past and live the abundant life Jesus came to give us as mentioned in John 10:10b (BIBLE) JESUS is coming very soon. Scripture prophecies are unfolding in these last days and we are awaiting His return to take us to our heavenly home in the rapture. Hallelujah ! The only requirement for this grand event is that we must be holy, happy and satisfied. 😊 We must focus on Jesus and give the good news of the Gospel. The Bible says that WINNING SOULS IS WISE 😊

There is one good point in this video..and that is to take care of oneself. As for the other points, they are debatable , due to an individuals life circumstance. Remember, there are people living in the streets and many are old people.....

I dropped out 22 years ago at 45. Love the simple life. No reason to wait until 70. I took this path by watching people over 80. Many kept reducing concern for what others thought. That allowed them to do as they pleased and their life got simpler and happier in their opinion. Some over 80, particularly females, kept up their concern for what others thought. These were wealth people. Their lives seemed complicated.

Your experience highlights an important aspect of aging: the freedom and simplicity that can come from letting go of societal expectations. Observing that people who focused less on others' opinions often enjoyed a simpler and more fulfilling life is insightful. It’s clear that personal happiness can often be enhanced by prioritizing what genuinely matters to us, rather than adhering to external pressures or societal norms. Embracing simplicity and focusing on personal contentment can lead to a richer, more satisfying life at any age.

Lu's story is a common tale, children taking advantage of their aging parents.Parents must never be obsessed with their kids or grandchildren, because that leads to problems later on.Extremes must always be avoided. Adopt the middle path,as propagated by lord Buddha Life will become blissful.

Your perspective highlights the importance of balance and self-awareness in family dynamics. Avoiding extremes and following a middle path, as you mention, can lead to a more harmonious and fulfilling life. It's crucial to maintain a sense of independence and not let relationships become burdensome. By staying mindful of these principles, you can cultivate a more peaceful and rewarding life.

I wouldn’t worry about it. I have three children and sometimes they are comforting, and sometimes they are not. If you have a crazy family, sometimes you have to cut ties anyway. Just give to yourself what you wish from others.
