I work in a apartment complex too. We don't do personal stuff because if something happens like if we break or scratch something even by accident they dont want to be accountable.

I hope you get paid separate for that tv hang lol. Cause that should not be apart of the job description. It’s irrelevant to maintaining the complex. Most places charge 100-15 minimum. I’ve been considering going to NC and doing maintenance there . I currently have work here in Jersey, but have seen all the extra work you guys do for no extra pay. It’s wild. Tv hanging, hanging up shelves, changing curtains that residences buy that require you to make other holes. Even picture hanging. Those are things I’d charge separate and if the company doesn’t let me do that, I just don’t work for that company.

@@LexVance thank you so much for your content. Really hope the industry becomes more willing to pay because being a jack of trades is harder than being a master of one.

I left apartment maintenance to go back to federal govt maintenance. The on call work was too much and the work orders were never ending. Like, you'd get it down to 10 then itd jump up to 50 overnight. It was so constant. Such a draining job lol

I can tell you why they hang TV's for free. If it's free the resident wont try to it it themselves and stopping them from potentially damaging the property
