I have my tongue pierced currently im 25 my first i got at 16 the second i got at 19 and this one i got at 22 ... id like to say i hav a lot of experience with it. Id say pros to getting it further back in your mouth is the metal jewelry will not damage your gums or teeth i had to take the one i got at 19 out because of gum damage i let it heal got it further back in my mouth and ive had no damage so far including passing a orthodontist test to get braces
