I'm not surprised bc young people cannot escape social media, and social media is the cause of all this anxiety
@SaneMillennial5 жыл бұрын
Yeah I don't see how that's surprising especially in this day and age. Everyone's constantly judging everyone else while at the same time being super insecure of who they really are, and social media only magnifies it b/c it's so easy for anyone to write a snide comment on the internet whether they realize a famous person will read it or not. It's one of the most basic parts of our humanity. You won't escape it no matter what your career is and ESPECIALLY b/c their careers are in the spotlight.

Last week I watched Sophie’s Interview with Dr. Phil and was shocked about her struggles with her mental health and what she went trough the last years without anyone knowing about it. Now here I am watching Maisie being her real self and showing how nervous and anxious she is but still opening up and just tell her story is so brave and empowering of her. I never thought that those hilarious and confident looking girls went through dark years and feelings that I can so much relate to. What they’re are doing is way more powerful than they think. Just listening to someone else’s story and struggles and what they felt helps to feel somehow understood and less alone with your own struggles you thought no one could really understand. Thank you 💜

I commented this already haha, but I'm putting this here in the chance you might see it! Woa that was amazing. Thank you Maisie for sharing all of that. Some of it really, really resonated with me. It went deep! And hearing it from you, I guess you do have a big voice atm because of your work, and I'm just really grateful that you and the likes of Sophie Turner have used it to open up about mental health, despite the difficulty in it. What you said about what makes you feel like you have value, that really hit home. And I feel the same, and have similar struggles, but making good connections with people, to me is such a good description of the core. Of the human condition. Ok wow, that was a spiel and a half, love what you did here, thank you!!! xx

Thanks for this Maisie, to be honest I used to judge you in interviews as I thought you came across as inauthentic. But this has made me realise it just made me uncomfortable because I saw my own defence mechanisms in front of me. Thank you for the honesty.
@GreyDoofus885 жыл бұрын
It was certainly inspiring to see you step out of your shell and say those things. But it escapes my understanding as to why you would judge yourself so harshly. Perhaps it's down to trying to find some form of balance between pride and humility, which can be quite challenging most of the time, especially for you and your fellow GoT colleagues who are like a family to you, even after the show has finished. Or it could also be down to the negative comments you have received from people who are envious of your successful achievements throughout your life so far. People who are lost, afraid and more often than not harbour aggression toward themselves, because they realise how vulnerable they are whenever they are or feel alone. I wish could find my own strength and courage to do the things that I desire, as you have continued to do so. But I too am also mired by my self doubts and harsh words to the point where I just sit idly by in a state of agonising silence. Though I'm taking part in a local comedy club, which is a good start for me. I figured if anyone can do it, then surely I could do so as well. The problem is I have trouble maintaining my composure and articulating myself, especially when I'm trying to think of things to say which could be interpreted as either humourous or offensive. Putting myself in a position where everyone is looking at me, expecting me to be a source of entertainment, is even more challenging than what I thought it would be. But I have learned that these things come with time and patience. For instance, the last comedy night I took part in my local pub... I was rambling about how Donald Trump pretty much decided to rename "Independence Day" by calling it "A Salute to America" Day. I said if that's the case we may as well rename as Easter as "Salute to cuddling Chickens and Rabbits, and sugar overdose (due to excessive consumption of chocolate eggs)." Halloween should be "Salute to evil spirits, nightmarish creatures and... sugar overdose (from candy). Finally skipping Christmas and going straight to Valentines Day (🤮) "Salute to Alcoholism, heartbreak, intercourse and... you guessed it... sugar overdose".

This is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. Maisie might be the reason I carry on even though I have an irrational fear of something really horrible. Because Maisie has inspired me and has connected with me. I can’t tell any of you enough how much an interview like this does for me. I feel like I was in that room, and it was one of the most serene and reassuring things I have ever experienced. I’ve been imaging a lot of bad things recently and it was nice to have a break and I just imagined my self on the other side of the room sitting in a chair, mouthing to Maisie “you’re doing great” . And when she forgot what her friend said, that happens to me so much and it scares me. I want to try a million things and I just need to do it. I hate feeling stuck.

I see so much of myself in what Maisie has said. Anxiety, self-loathing, the lot of it. The way she has spoken about how she has moved on from her bad habits and how she is still working on them is so inspiring. I’ve always measured my self worth with my achievements and what others think of me, but my crippling anxiety has left me with a small voice and feeling like I’m incapable. So seeing Maisie as someone who is so much like I am but is still able to power through it and be good at what she does is amazing. She works with her anxiety instead of covering it up or ignoring it and that is something I have never tried to do. Also, I watched her Ted Talk and thought it was brilliant, never once noticed a hiccup that wasn’t endearing. Watch it if you haven’t already. :)

I have never watched a single episode of Game of Thrones, and also Maisie's TED talk I have yet to watch (next), but from this isolated perspective, knowing nothing but what is said in the interview, I see massive parallels between Maisie's experience and what Robbie Williams went through. LOVE her bravery in coming out about this insecurity, anxiety, disconnection etc., LOVE her shedding the mask and LOVE how you, Lewis, are gently assisiting, sitting with it with her, listening, affirming, just opening up the room for her to be herself at her own pace. This ich could have never happened with the typical "lemme fix this forya" attitude that most guys almost automatically resort to when faced with a crying girl, if they even allow for so much awkwardness in the first place. You, Sir, are pretty amazing.

I think most people just ask celebrities thoughtless questions about their characters, but I think what they really want is for people to ask them about THEM and their own feelings. An amazing interview really. I usually don't care for celebrities but seeing Maisie share this much about herself and really opening up is pretty damn impressive. I think most of us can empathize with these sorts of mental issues. Which is kinda sad when you think about it - so many people feeling these emotions. So many people hating themselves for no good reason. Hearing her talk about it made me realize that I am one of those people as well to some extent. But I think we should talk about it and realize that we feel those emotions.

So many people walk on this earth unconsciously. When you look deep within yourself and understand your weaknesses and vulnerabilities you open yourself to criticism making you a target. In the end you begin to live in the truth and you understand who you are and you love yourself. It is a constant learning project to be the best you can be and don't get down on yourself if you don't succeed every day. When you live in the truth you stop projecting your insecurities onto others and you own them, understand them and learn from them. Surround yourself around POSITIVE loving genuine kind people that make you feel good and they give off a positive energy. Withdraw yourself from all negative people in your life and do the best to limit contact with those that are negative but you still have to see them. Be kind to others, tell the truth, love nature and everything in it, be humble and caring for others but don't be a punching bag to people that are jealous of you. There is an awakening happening around the world and it is starting to spread fast. Don't be left behind in this material world and understand that we all come from the same creator. Some of us chose to live in the light/truth and some of us stay asleep and live in the dark/untruth.

@cronut45675 жыл бұрын
I'm about the same age, and I think I might know how. When something goes horribly wrong in your life for a long time, but on the surface it looks great, eventually you will start to realize that the source is yourself. Or in her case, a friend helped her reach that. You will then try very hard to understand yourself and desperately try to figure a way out. I think her awareness of self came initially like mine did, from a desperate attempt to save herself. Ultimately all the pain just ended up deepening self understanding. She must have already realized how strong she really is. That's why she says empathy is her superpower, I think. It is a strength to be able to bear deep emotions, and one you can't find without experience.

Thank you to both Lewis and Maisie for sharing your honest emotions and having the courage to do so. When Maisie was talking about having someone listen and ask good questions instead of people trying to make her feel better, I think that's very important, that us empaths don't need people to make us feel better, we need people to listen and be there for us. I've realized life can be hard for us empaths, but we can find like minded people to share this journey together with...people who love and respect us for who we are and all the light and love we bring into the world in these dark and transitory times. I think the world would be a better place if we had more people like Maisie living from their hearts

This is one of most beautiful and inspiring interviews I've ever watch. Her vulnerability, openness and authenticity is refreshing! So heart opening, centering and grounding. So on point it came out when the new season is out. Thank you Lewis and thanks Massie! Loved it!

This is so strong and so powerful, first of all thank you both, for opening up that way, it´s important to embrace that vulnerability and use it to make you stronger. I cried so much, but it was because I felt every word so much. Maissie, I really wish I can say to you how strong and beautiful you are, for us, young woman and especially artist, hearing this testimony is so special, and you are so special, and inspiring. This is a great interview, congrats, and thanks again. I kind of needed this and I did even knew it.

I think that people always confound their true self with the person they use to be unconsciouslly when nobody is looking at them ( or alone),when in fact their true self is the best version of themself (that they would choose to be if they weren't scared)!!!!! I used to hate when people say " just be yourself" or "accept yourself" or "stay yourself" because I always hated who I thought I was, so I used to felt stuck with that personnality (ackward and boring) for so long!!! But now I know that I am not!!! We can choose to be anybody anytimes!!! Fake it till you become it!!! And most importantly is when you change, others and circumstances change too to reflect the way you are in the inside!!!💜

Everyone should go through this stage at least once in their lives in finding who they are, by doing so you're being honest with yourself. Best of luck to her in the future.

Thank you Maisie! Your story was so relatable for me. I really connected with the part where you talk about not feeling any emotions during your final shoot with GOT. There was a time in my life where I had experienced something similar and I had to make a choice, to continue living life feeling nothing, or to experience life at its fullest

Maisie Williams, this is such an incredible, open and honest conversation. You have so much self-awareness and are way ahead of the game. Most people, famous or otherwise, would find that impossible. Totally inspirational, brave and imperative to the world right now. You will go so far, and take many people with you. Well done. Don't stop. Xxx

Very powerful interview! I've always admired Maisie with good reason. I've watched her Ted Talk and was blown away, but this interview shows the struggle that she has had and the progress she has made! It broke my heart to see her cry, but it is good that she is able to let it out and heal. Her Ted Talk theme was that the 15 minutes of fame is fleeting, but creativity and talent carry you throughout your life. Her life is a true inspiration. Maisie is amazing. Thank you so much for making this interview.

Maisie, thank you for sharing. You are so brave and magnificent for telling your story. You can rule the world and because of you, is the only reason that I watched Game of Thrones. I heard someone say to create a brag binder in which you save all the wonderful messages people send you and accomplishments and can look at it when you are feeling down and think you haven’t done anything. It really helps as a reminder of what you have done and what you can continue to do.

incredibly brave for her to come on, as someone who is still trying to figure it all out. Unbelievably vulnerable and brave. Thank you. ❤️

Maisie, I am so impressed that you could make yourself vulnerable by discussing your insecurities. I believe when we do the hard things, like you did in this interview, that we make ourselves stronger and more able for the future. Congratulations for your strength of conviction and character.
