Michael, Charlie and I love that you presented the history of this doll and her magnificent wardrobe. Your knowledge and demeanor are always impressive. This is so worth watching again- and I will. Camera work is great also- it is so relaxing to see such smooth transitions and clear close-ups.

Thank you, this was so interesting. It's amazing that the little girls who played with the dolls & fancy dresses kept them in such good shape. You are lucky to have them. Imagine how many antique dolls are hidden away in attics of Europe.

Sadly for us, there are probably fewer attic dwelling dolls left in Europe than you might imagine. I used to help at antique fairs in London back in the 70s to 90s. Sellers there would go on buying trips to mainland Europe, knocking on doors and making offers on a variety of things to bring back to sell. The vast majority of the less common dolls were then bought by regular customers who were actually doll dealers from the US. There were few collectors in the UK then. My grandmother's more costly dolls from the 1880s and the wo she inherited from my great grandmother all crossed the Atlantic to cover her funeral costs. Only her small, doll's house china heads stayed here and now live with me.

If you think about starched collars, the starch of that period was very serious stuff! I must admit I had trouble concentrating on what you were saying because the artistry of the clothes kept distracting me. To see them up close was an absolute treat. These seamstresses and lacemakers were true masters of their work. It’s sad we don’t know their names.

@@MichaelCanadas I will! I’m going to try my hands to see if they’ll tolerate hand sewing if I do it in small chunks. Bacterial meningitis left them very cranky. I want to make some outfits for some my Cissette dolls based on Dior.

Another wonderful presentation, as always Michael. Thank you. Was Mimi named when she arrived, or did you choose her name? She is such a pretty girl and her trousseau is stunning.

Thank you and yes that is the name she came with . Plus she has her Mimi calling cards .
