I actually have one without the cloth convertible portion (red). I like this old one from Maisto. For $30 or less, it's actually quite nice. Of course, at that price you can buy a couple of their new ones from Sam's lol, but still. Great review.

Nice! I like that color combo as well. The versions without the soft seem to have better build quality, along with having an opening trunk. Pricing for the 325i seems to vary greatly from very cheap beat up versions to 100 dollars+ for the rare dark green version. Maisto doesn’t make 1/18 BMW models anymore. Budget models of 2010+ BMW models seem to be hard to find in general.

Great review! And i would recommend if you are going to store the model for a long period of time, di it with the roof down as it preserves it and keeps it in better condition.
@nicksdiecast13843 жыл бұрын
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! And I thought maybe storing it with the top up would prevent wrinkles in the fabric, but storing it with the roof folded down would probably protect it more as you mentioned.

@@nicksdiecast1384 It also keeps the rear window pliable. Since it's plastic, and really thin, they can yellow and become brittle with age and exposure to UV rays, just like the real car.

I have the red one. One thing...I wish that the trunk still opened, but I realize that, with the top mechanism, they needed the room for the top hardware, but I digress. I feel that Maisto could have pulled it off. I wish I still had my SLK 230 as well. It was silver with the black/red two-tone interior. I also had a Welly Peugeot 206cc with the operational retractable two-piece hard-top. So cool, that there were budget-minded models with premium operational features!

I also have the SLK230 with the working top; mine is red with the red/gray interior. I actually got it the day after I got this 325i. The 325i is actually out on display on my shelf right now.

Solido has an E36 in their sortiment, too. But only the coupé. But typical Solido you can only open the front passenger doors (well, the car has no back passenger doors, but trunk and engine bay is sealed on all of their models for a while, now). The Maisto version is looking good for the age. But I guess I'd go for one without the textile roof. Although the textile roof is definately something very special you don't find at other models. But I am not so happy about how it is looking when the roof is up and also the issue with the gap when the top is down. But definately something special having a guest and showing how to close the roof. Anyway, considering the age of the model and this cool functionality about the roof makes it still worth to collect.

The roof is definitely a very cool feature yet at the same time it’s not aesthetically pleasing, as you said. It also seems a bit fragile when operated. Even so, I like it a lot. Along with Solido, UT models has also produced models of the E36.

I have this same model. One of the doors isn’t mechanically attached.. it’s not the convertible version but still, getting older I will probably start buying bigger diecasts more. More bang for your buck anyways
