Wine and beer have been breakfast, lunch, dinner drinks for hundreds of years -- at least in certain cultures. It is said that during those days when water purification was in its infancy, there was even a stigma against water and people considered wine to be safer. These days, we have such ready access to clean water, juice, milk, coffee that we barely think of wine as a breakfast drink. Cultural elements alone, wine -- especially red wine -- has some medical benefits when it is consumed in moderation, i.e., wine contains antioxidants, boosts immune system, and increases bone density. According to the scientists, the average person can benefit from a glass of wine any hour during the day, even in the morning. (Of course, if you need to work or need to drive after breakfast, then don't include any alcoholic drink in your breakfast. 😄) It was very interesting to see that people in this Chinese city have kept the custom of drinking wine in the morning alive.
