My first job after High School....1965....worked in an electric motor shop....not a whole lot different....we'd burn out the old wire, count/measure...make new coils on a machine....put them in the stator....braze up the connections....ROP....new bearings....that's about the size of it....

Very interesting and informative. But I don't understand where the rotor wires go. Is this a synchronous motor with wound rotor? It would be good to show the assembly of the end bells and rotor, as well as final hipot insulation test, and actually running. :)

Another well photographed and lit video! Thanks for the time and effort put into your videos. How many hours were spent rewinding the motor? Was it a rebuild and if so do you verify with the manufacturer specs the correct gauge of wire used to rewire? Mildly concerned about the use of the metal bar to set the first layer of coil into the slots. Seems like the use of some form of hard plastic would reduce the chance of damaging the varnish on the wires of the coil.

Thank you for your statement Yes we are rewinding the motor and we have measured the wire well and wrote down the sizes in the video and we pressed the first step through the iron press so that there was no damage to the insulation. Insulation did nothing, It took us four days to rewind a motor of such size.

I like your work and also video but your taping on coil is wrong in both sides there are four mistake in winding 1: wrong taping in connection side 2: wrong taping in back side 3: large paper sheet in stator on coil 4: wrong use of soldering not silver always in copper

I do not think anybody answered your question about removing the varnish or enamel coating off the wires. I believe Acetone, Laquer Thinner, maybe Paint Thinner can remove the coating off the wires. I have also seen where people have put the coated wires in a high heat. This process leaves lots of blackened gunk, so folks will dunk the wires in a "pickling" solution. The advantage of the heat method is that the metal becomes "annealed", thus softening the metal so the metal can be reworked. [If the wire is to be reused, annealing is EXTREMELY important! Have you ever bent metal back and forth until it breaks? That is "work hardening" which makes metal very brittle.] I hope this answer helps.

Maybe I can help you... Alternating Current (AC) motors typical do not have brushes. I am assuming that the "generator" to which you are referring is a Direct Current (DC) motor. DC motors will be found with brushes; however, there is a "brushless" DC motor. If you are referring to a generator that generates electricity, that is different. In a VERY BROAD and GENERAL sense, the direction of current on a DC motor will determine if it is a motor that provides a rotational force verses a rotational force applied to the motor that creates an output current, or electricity. Many generators provide an output of AC. It is my understanding that generators produce a Direct Current, then a rectifier converts the DC into AC. It has been a few years since I took a physics class which covered this topic in general terms. I hope I have provided correct information.

Ragazzi scusate se mi permetto ma se la prossima volta tagliate la corona co un flessibile riuscirete tranquillamente a capire che tipo di avvolgimento sia quale collegamento sia stato fatto e con un micrometro riuscirete addirittura a sapere la sezione del rame usata grande magia!!!! Per il resto del motore basta scaldarlo con una fiamma a 100g circa e riuscirete addirittura a pulire lo statore buon lavoro
