Used to listen to this song while I was in school studying and day dream of my future and moving to the city. Here I am 7 years later sitting on my balcony in the city, overlooking the lake, sipping on a coffee. Life is good.

5 years ago, I had just graduated high school. I had the best class and was crestfallen because all of the friends I had known for years, the people I had grown up with since elementary and middle school, would now all be separating, off to start their own lives. I loved my school and class dearly, so the summer after graduation was hard. During that summer, I worked at a grocery store and came across this song one day. It represented the feelings I had for my fellow classmates and helped me get through that summer. Now, five years later, I have since graduated college, been homeless, and now work as a software engineer. Everytime I hear this song, I think back to those days when I was just a boy in high school. This song will always hold a special place in my heart. And to myself reading this in the future, you are likely much older than I am now when I originally wrote this, and the era I am describing is even further back for you than it is for me. Time, that cruel mistress, waits for no man. All we can bring with us on our steadfast march into the future is our memories, and unfortunately those will fade. Video and pictures help, but it's up to you to be responsible. I hope things are going well for you and that you are much closer to your goals, assuming you haven't achieved them already. Anyway, its 1:18am now, years ago for you, and I am tired. So farewell future self. It's about time for me to dissipate into your distant memory. I leave the future to you. Goodbye.

Sounds like me, haven't graduated yet, I'm studying graphic design w/computer science. I was homeless for a moment in college. I remember feeling lost after graduating high school, and I ended up having one of the most peacful summers afterwards. I know that this was only 4 months ago, but hopefully all is okay.

Congratulations! I'm on my last year of college, this song came out when I started in fact.. 8 years ago. My advice is to take it easy, don't think you have to party all the time trying to fit in and choose your friends wisely as they will have a huge impact on you in college.
