This was some serious old skool sounding melodeath, reminded me of Sacrilege a little bit! Totally dig the fuck out of this release! Reminds me of those old Pace Picante sauce commercials, 'New York City?!', 'Minneapolis Minnesota?!', lol. Yeah, def sounds like it was spawned in Gothenburg though! ...Also, watch your CD collection Nick, I saw that mischievous glimmer in Shredlord's eye, nutsacks might be droppin' in!

Finally a band gave In Flames the middle finger and said, "fuck it, we'll bring back classic Melodeath!" I can't express into words how amazing this album is. For sure will be my aoty this year. If it's not, I will be completely surprised.

Necrotic Nick- If In Flames isn't going to do it then someone has to. These guys picked up the flag and charged into battle and they did a great job. Even at a 3.5 it's got a chance of making my year end list with repeat listens. This was solid as hell.

As a former Minneapolis guitarist in a black metal scene up there early 2000's, I am glad they are carrying on up there. I have this dropping on vinyl in a couple days as I ordered from 20 buck spin. I listened to 4 songs and stopped / purchased, that way it's a fresh listen this week when arriving. Can't wait.

The artwork on this album cover looks like Hyrule Castle from Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild covered in calamity malice! Also, industrial metal legends GODFLESH will be releasing their first album since 2017 on June 9th, entitled Purge!

Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! I really dug this one. This is a retro sound that you really don't hear very often and they did it well. Both of those Ulthar albums rip. That's still some of the most insane riff work I've heard this year. Definitely have some early end of the year contenders already so far and still tons to come.

Hey 90s In Flames and Dark Tranquility called!! They want their sound and riffs back. This reminds me of early Metalcore without the breakdowns like Prayer for a cleansing and As I lay dying.

Necrotic Nick- So much of that early melodic metalcore owed a ton to In Flames. I think it was Earth Crisis that first brought In Flames over for a US tour and the fans went nuts for them. Not too long after that we started hearing that sound really show up in metalcore a lot.

I have been waiting for a review on this. I fucking loved this record. And I say that as someone who never understood In Flames appeal (for the most part.) And I have only recently come around on Jester Race. I have always been more of a Darkest Hour/Soilwork person. This album is a banger, I expect to see it on a lot of year end lists.

Necrotic Nick- Yeah, this week was pretty loaded with stuff to go over but I wanted to get this one worked in. I'm still a long time In Flames fan (well, mostly the older stuff) but this just embodies that old Gothenburg sound.

This album is soooooooo fucking killer, it's already set to be my album of the year!! I've been diving back in to all the old glorious Gothenburg MDM like Sacrilege, A Carnorous Quintet, Eucharist, and Gardenian. By the way, you should check out Oros from Fort Collins, CO. They'd be a great fit for the Denver DeathFest!
