Those different outfits and head gears you've seen are actually just from 1 ethnic of Minangkabau. Meanwhile Indonesia has more than 300 of ethnic groups, where in every tribe of ethnic group they have a variety of different traditional costumes and head gears for certain activities. So you can imagine how diverse and unique and colorful Indonesian culture is.

Hi, Uncle D ^^ I'm one of those who faithfully watch your reaction videos. And I come from Minangkabau, my tribe is Kotto/Koto (Sanskrit which means Fortress). All the outfits in the video come from several areas in Minangkabau (West Sumatra). For women's outfits, we call it Bundo Kanduang clothing, and for men, we call it Panghulu Clothing. The house with a horn-like roof (Gonjong) is a Minangkabau traditional house, we call it Rumah Gadang or the big house. And the big one in the video is our palace which we call the Silinduang Bulan Palace (the palace protected by the moon).

Minangkabau is the name of the area in / or name of traditional West Sumatra.. the name of the provincial capital is Padang.. This is where the Indonesian artist Vanny Vabiola comes from and lives.. All the traditional clothes and the scenery are from West Sumatra.. West Sumatra is one of the provinces in Indonesia from 34 provinces throughout Indonesia. different provinces, different costumes and different languages.. but the national language is Indonesian. all provinces can speak Indonesian.

The name Minang Kabau means the Winning Buffalo. Bcoz the tribe won to keep their land by winning over a buffalos fight hundreds years ago. And that’s why the women head dress resembling buffalo’s horn, doesn’t matter if it’s expensive or cheap material. And so does the roof of their houses. All resembling buffalo’s horn.❤ AND don’t 4get the amazing beautiful traditional cloth with gold threads made all by hand with traditional tools up till now!!.❤️

I'll try to explain to you, Uncle D, about the festival. The festival is named TABUD (Minangnese - TABUIK) and comes from Pariaman, West Sumatra. The festival is held every 1 Muharram (in the Islamic calendar) to commemorate the death of the Prophet Muhammad's grandson, Husein ibn Ali.
