What I love about Buu absorbing people is the fact that he uses it to his advantage, both in physical and psychological ways, telling Gohan that his friends and family are disappointed is honestly really sick for a villain

My only issue with him absorbing people is how late the concept was introduced. Considering how many desperate situations he was in before, it doesn't make any sense why he wouldn't have tried it before.

Kid Goku and Roshi had a height difference that tipped the scales on that move whereas the size difference between Gohan and Buu doesn't seem to factor despite Buu still being bigger. Either way it's a nice call back if it is a call back.

Another thing, the moments where it’s like “whattt he had so much time to dodge that” and it shows a character shocked or something, it’s happening at super speeds. Those shocked reactions are happening in a instant, they just show it to the viewer slowed down

10:38 I've always love that reference scene that gohan and buutenks had the same fighting stance when goku first fought vegeta in the saiyan saga and on 9:45 there was another reference where gohan and buutenks kicked each other in the face that reference was in the beginning of Dragon Ball when goku and jackie chan aka master roshi first fought each other in the 21st world martial arts tournament a lot of references in this episode.

@somoscuatro5235 Thank you for this. It's explained better in the manga but basically, the old kai unlocked every drop of gohan's potential in this form. That's why when he arrived piccolo said his face has changed a little. Because this is his ultimate form, he's more powerful than super daiyan 3 goku without the energy drain of a transformation

Super Buu and Gotenks are almost similar in terms of power and add to that Piccolo. Gohan maybe a lot stronger individually compared to each one but when their powers add up he is weaker by a margin

piccolos brain was the key here imo, the fact he was using gotenks powers flawlessly to counteract gohan weaknesses piccolo himself knew gohan had, i believe that if he did not take piccolo as well, gohan could have competed and done way better, but getting piccolo whis is gohan master in the past and knows everything about him, made buu get the leg up, its was a strategic masterclass from maajin buu, though i think it could have been avoided if gotenks and gohan just finish him

Guys he can't go after super Saiyan. He is already in super Saiyan 2 form. Just check his hair it is not like before. He had a normal cute boy hair. Now he is completely new guy plus his hair style makes him look like a macho man. The hair style difference is not much recognisable but if you look closer you can see he is already in his super Saiyan 2 form but it is in his normal form and he cannot turn super Saiyan bc he is already unlocked his much more true hidden potential plus his eyes are blue when he first achieving it and turned back to normal when he ascended into this new version which is much more stronger than ssj3 Goku, gotenks SSj3 and super buu who is stronger than fat or grey buu and also super buu is even equal to ssj3 gotenks but gohan is much higher bc he can now at least give a good fight with buutenks (Gotenks absorbed buu) even tho gohan is struggling with buutenks imagine he is already keeping up with him with the buu who has SSJ3 gotenks inside of him as addition !! This form is a mystical form which is obtained by supreme Kai by an ancient ceremony and brought his true full power which is already inside of him. So he cannot reach super Saiyan form. And this form is known as Mystic Gohan or ultimate Gohan !!

If absorbing them made no difference Buu wud have never bothered to lure the boys into fusing. He'd either beat them 1 v 4 mid diff or 1 v 3 if the team fight as/with Gotenks. Buu resorts to absorbtion when he's completely outmatched.
