I'll bet that they say someone else must have loosened them up. It's not their fault. Thanks for sharing. Merry Christmas

Thanks for sharing; sometimes they screw up royally! Years ago, when I used to do my own wrenching, a friend of a buddy of mine drove him s VW over to my house where we were working on our own Bugs. He'd just gotten it "tuned-up" and it ran terribly. Without even looking, I knew what the problem was (easy fix), but I told him "I'll ride back with you to the shop." Once there i asked the 'mechanic' , "You know what's going on with this motor? Well I do, you mixed up the spark plug wires and it's misfiring." I was surprised that it even ran at all.

Had this same thing happen to my brother in law a few years ago on his Kia Sedona. His wife asked me to look at it at my house. And discovered his caliper pin screws were not there either on one wheel. I checked the other and they were finger loose. Van had just had brakes done at the stealership. I just happened to have a few extra caliper bolts that I always save that worked and put them on and checked all 4 wheels. Road tested and issue was fixed. She called back when she left and told me noise was better and braking was better.

So many businesses have zero accountability. Everyone for themselves. Its like that where I work.

this is a common mistake for a novice person working on brakes, It's not that the bolts weren't torqued to spec its also that they didn't tighten the 2 bolts uniformly alternating tightening each bolt a little at a time.

When I do those I make them Gutentight, or to the manufacturers torque spec, not just put in and hope. If the car suspension is not lifting up when doing them and pulling up, they are not tight enough. Very important to not only have the go part work, the WHOA part is even more important, because otherwise you will stop in a non desired fashion eventually.

Two missing bolts is not a big deal in a brake caliper.. lol. That what happens on dealership with gravy work repairs

I had to service the brakes on my wife's '15 Forester this weekend. It went in for brake warranty work in '17 at 25,000 miles for pedal vibration. They wrote on the invoice that they turned the rotors and replaced the pads. NOPE! There were gouges in the rotors when the tech probably used an impact hammer on the rotor's inside surfaces to remove them then probably used a roloc pad to clean "resurface" the rotors. The caliper brackets were not cleaned of rust (the caliper brackets rust jacketed the pads to the hardware) which caused uneven rear pad brake wear. The slide pins were full of grease and not silicone. If it wasn't under warranty, it would never see the inside of a dealership. Horrible, horrible work.

Typical dealership stuff makes no sense your friend could've wrecked or had thousands of dollars in damage to their car over 2 very important bolts makes no sense

Hey there what ever happened to the 1954 truck project?

The owner's brother-in-law was buying parts for it but not giving them to me. He wanted to do all if the work. So I sent it back. They got it started during the summer for a second but that's all I have heard about it. It is next door, so I see it all of the time. LOL
