the reason those starter bolts often break is because people remove the small bracket that holds the front end of the starter. it helps take the weight and torque of the starter motor. may not seem important, but they are. I mean if you hydro'd the motor, that could break bolts too though.

6.5 turbo keep it original. when the military moved from the 6.2 they went to the 6.5 turbo which stock make a 190, but with a little work would be perfect in my eyes. We used to turn those things way up when deployed. Same with the lmtv we would use the laptop and bleep bloop some power into that 3126 cats when in iraq but hey best of luck on what ever you do choose.

The blocks and heads are pure trash for adding power. Zero people have been close to getting 1000 hp out of a 6.2/6.5 without spending 10s of thousands on them to keep them from grenading. I hope he decides to do it anyway just to shut people up. Then we can all laugh 6 months later when he is building something different. :)

if you arent gonna do another 6.2, i say do a built 6.9/7.3 idi turbo. Similar motor but more power potential. Keep it old school somewhat in the theme of the CUCV and it would be different.
@jeblittle7999
@jeblittle7999 2 жыл бұрын
Idk if id look at an idi as a potential power house....i remember two guys on pirate 3x4 had built idi' and the xheaper of the 2 had over 7 grand in it to make 400hp for 7 grand you can source a 12v a 6 speed and have money left over for injectors and an he351 that will get you same kinda power or get a turbo 400 engine plate build a th400 and have extra money left over
@jamespeart9922
@jamespeart9922 2 жыл бұрын
@@jeblittle7999 I said it has more power potential but it is still a similar motor so I retains more of the cucv character. Sure a 12v can make motor power and easier, but that wasn't the point of my comment.

You should get with the texas speed people or another machine if they can't do an rebuild the 6.2 to be stout !! The crank should already be forged just need upgraded rods new bearing an bore an hone . I'd also get decks checked , an crank line bore checked an everything balanced an magnafluxed that will give ya a good foundation . Then go to gail banks for a turbo kit for it they maid them they might even have cams for them too im sure they can hook you up good for some spotlighting on you show . I've also herd of some old guys taking the 6.2 an fitting a distributer or now days you could do a crank trigger an coil packs an convert it to be a super high compression gas motor that runs on alcohol !!!! Either way a 6.2 build would be cool . If not dura max all day but built to kilt tho !!

Practically same everything interchanges. I like the them cuz it is not what barely anyone has and is DIFFERENT then all the COMMON JUNK... Plus What's important is that It is STUPID SIMPLE, Old school ALL MECHANICAL AND RELIABLE ENGINE. Very easy to work on and You have fun too!

Since you don't want to do a normal diesel swap, how about a 2 stroke Detroit? Or an Isuzu? The 7.3 Powerstroke would be the easiest for you, since I'm sure you know them pretty well (not as good as those 6.0 junkers you like) and you probably have one. If you don't, any local junk yard to you will.
