This takes the phrase "stranger danger" to a whole new level.

When we really think about this movie's perspective, it was pretty divisive how this turned out. Some blame the child because he was being too rowdy during the initial portion of the feature, and some take it out on the mother for the way she yelled at him. But when we really think about it: Both are equally blamed for what transpired by this point. The movie dives into the fact that they are a broken household since the passing of the father. The mother really 'tried' her best to raise her son as best as she could, but he wasn't exactly making it easier on her and we've seen kids like Major before. Was it right about what the mother said to the kid before this scene? Wrong choice of words, yet mothers tend to say things they don't mean... but kids can take words very personally. Could we have had a kid we could sympathize with more? It's hard to do so when he literally broke his father's trophy, though one could blame it on the influence of the tape. It's a complicated scenario overall. I get where they were going for with the dynamic before this point, but honestly... this is just one of those 'What we see is what we get'.

It was because of the tape. The way the kids were acting reminds me a lot of how some of the kids these days act when their devices are taken 😂 it's the same but with supernatural and demonic attraction, I guess.
