With the nuclear technology India is acquiring from France, consider pairing this with Hydro-electric plants/reservoirs. Excess energy produced during night in nuclear plants and be used to pump water up an elevation into a high elevation for use during the day. Consider using black balls or moisture nets to help with water loss to evaporation.

As usual, there’s superb clarity in your explanations. I would like to add that the oldest hydro power project in Karnataka is Shimsha, about seventy KM from Bengaluru. It was set up in 1905. It generated four MW power, and supplied power exclusively to Bharat Gold Mines Ltd in Kolar district. It is still a functioning hydro power plant. Can you please tell what is the total Hyder power generated in India? To what extent it meets the power demand of the country?

Excellent video with superb commentary ! Could improve by giving in the beginning an overall big picture of hoe many Hydro power plants exist and total generating capacity. Slight correction - it is the potential energy of elevation which is converted into Kinetic energy and not SPEED of the river flow !

The velocity of water coming to a turbine is based on the difference in elevation between the water level in a dam and the elevation of the turbine, i.e. the head (h). This is stored in the form of potential energy PE = m x g x h. where m is mass of water and g is gravitational constant. this potential energy is then converted to kinetic energy at the turbine KE= 1/2 m x v^2. The head is NOT the head between "top of river" where it starts feeding the lake at the dam to the turbine, but the head between the top of lake elevation and turbine elevation only. So the height of the eastern peak of the Eastern Ghats or the top of the Himalayan glacier versus the elevation of the turbine does not figure in the amount of power generated by the turbine. At the Karcham Wangtoo dam for example, the turbines are placed much lower down the river than the lake, connected by a huge pipe or Penstock to keep the potential energy high.
