My grandmother had a plate in her kitchen that was etched with “my home is clean enough to be healthy and dirty enough to be happy”. When she passed away I inherited and put it in my kitchen. It is one of my favorite pieces of home decor. ❤

My cabinets are always organized because when I was in high school home economics we were required to line every cabinet with white paper, then we used a marker and outline the pan on the shelf paper so that it was always replaced in its proper spot. We did that because with five classes a day if everyone just put the items where they wanted nobody in the other classes would be able to find what they needed. WALA! A lifelong habit was born, I don't draw circles to indicate where each item is to be placed but I do it out of habit and I never waste time looking for a misplaced item.

I made the switch to all glass containers for hot foods a few years ago and I LOVE them. I still keep a few big plastic ones for things like salads, but anything going in the microwave is now glass. And they can go in the oven too. I love them and am so glad I made the switch.

Cambriea count yourself blessed that you have the nice deep cabinet drawers for your kitchen! I have an older home with old cabinets and it is getting harder for me to get heavier items into wall cabinets and bending over to get pots and pans from under the lower cabinets. I'm 70 with arthritis and fibromyalgia so I'm always looking for easier storage ideas. Thank you!

Hello Cabriea, this is a Daytona Beach neighbor, closer to your parents. Just wanted to let you know if you use Dawn detergent with cold water on your plastic lids and bowls from new til they are decluttered will keep tomato stains out of them. Then you can wash with warm or hot water. Just do cold water first. Have a good day.

I find it so interesting when we happen to be decluttering at the same time. Lol. Mine started last week. I declutter in phases. I focus on specific areas and that full week would be dedicated to *just* the items for that week. Last week was Phase 1, which included general cleaning. This week is PHASE 2, so on and so forth. I jot down a quick list. Not everyone needs a list, but it helps me to keep focus and not burn out nor jump around to different tasks upon walking into a room.

With the new glass I dont regularly dishwasher them as they distort and become harder to clip and seal, and i dont microwave with the lids on for the same reason.

All of our apartments were remodeled this year (mind was done in July) so I had to move out into a "guest apt" for 10 days, then moved back in my apt. I love it so much, it's so nice! Anyway, sorry to ramble, but just wanted to say I decluttered before the move. I've lived here for 10 years and accumulated so much stuff. I got rid of so many things. I really need to declutter our 6 drawer dresser..we use 4 drawers for under garments and summer clothes but the 2 bottoms..😂..they are junk drawers.! I bought the glass storage containers and through all the plastic containers away! If I have to heat leftovers I have to remove lid and use plastic wrap on top, because you can’t heat the lid in the microwave. Don’t know if yours are different. Love the glass containers!

I got glass containers also. I still have to have some plastic for when they take lunch. They did not want glass. I have a good size area that has Tupperware that I really don't use that often. You know, like the big cake holders and the pie holder. I will not be getting rid of these. They were my Grandmother's. I have a set of dishes she gave me for Christmas years ago that she bought from the Piggly Wiggly. I have not used them in years but the thought of getting rid of them... Ahhh...the "I get overwhelmed in a big box store" syndrome. I have it too! Generally, I just stay away; rationalizing spending more on a case of water at the supermarket by telling myself that if I went into Costco, the water would cost me more because I wouldn't walk out with just the water.
