As a military vet, this song really speaks to me, as it really reflects how i feel this government used my youth to push there power, and its something that will stick with me forever. It changed me completely, from a nerdy science geek to a hardened distrusting isolationist. Something that only after almost 15 years now im starting to get past. ***Unless you have a real set of speakers, most people dont realize that deep notes and sounds are supposed to resonate in your lung cavity to create feeling, thats missing with headphones =( unfortunately most people havent experienced a proper stereo system but i get it with space constraints and a room has to be treated well too. If you ever get a chance to hear a high end well setup system definitely go have a listen! youll find headphones are lacking in a few layers/spatial features due to all the sound happening in a 20cm space. I used to think the same, now i cant stand headphone hahaha But also could highly recommend, finding a .WAV file of this song, youtube and soundcloud play at 320kbps and a cd is 1400kbps so already missing a lot of info and spatial features/fades, unfortunately people have come to accept it as good quality from the MP3 days (space isnt an issue anymore) .
@quietreason86795 ай бұрын
@@keatoncreates Unless you're an audio engineer or someone with a very keen ear for music, 320 kbps is more than enough. It of course also matters how well the track was mastered. I do agree that there's a component to feeling the music in the chest that is missing from headphones.
@keatoncreates4 ай бұрын
@@quietreason8679 Yeah i guess you're right most people probably wouldnt, but maybe side by side with a song their very familiar with it would be standing out a bit i thinks. Just sucks all songs arent lossless given data space has multiplied by many times in those years. Agree, Mastering is pretty much everything, if its crap at that stage there's no hope hahaha, i specifically look for well mastered songs over music i like these days! Hi everyone there in the comments, im remembering old memories with this peace of art, time flies, doesn't it..? Wow.. so sad. Hole song is wonderful, puts me into tears.. I don't know what to say.. I just feel joy and pain at the same time. Hope the best for all of you.

Don't know if anyone can relate, but everytime I listen to this song it's an extremely cathartic experience. It reminds me to "get free" of the societal and cultural expectations that are placed on all of us, and to just be myself. After all, we're all together in the same boat, and I just wanna dream...
@randyjanuarie36195 жыл бұрын
You've summed it up. I just want to dream too and not conform to societal life which makes me analyze and overthink everything.

Seeing this live at EDC Vegas 2013 had the crowd shaking, same video on the large screen feeling the crowd it’s just hard to put into words. Now 2024 I sit on the train eyes closed and still get small hits of that feeling. This is a forever song for me

I start crying everytime I hear this because my 22 year old brother Alex passed away 5 months ago and he loved this song so i love it and i can't stop listening to it and i remember hanging out in his room with his friends listening to this at midnight and playing games and talking to my big brother and his friends and just being happy to be around him... It hurts we were so close and it breaks me knowing that can't happen anymore i miss him so bad

I first heard this song when I was going through a split (married at 17, mum loved him but I grew to strongly dislike him). During the split, he was still present at many family gatherings. Not something I wanted, but mother knows best so he stuck around. This song used to make me cry ALOT. And it still brings tears to my eyes. Till this day, I still don't know how I feel about my family but I can only blame myself. I need therapy for sure 😂

I know this song 10 years now. Listen to it now feels like bitter sweet nostalgy. It brings back many beautiful memories but also reminds me how fast time goes by. This makes me very pensive. Notably when you turn 30 next year. I was young and I just wanna dream. One of my all time favourites for sure.

40 this year. Some friendly advice, Don't spend your 30s wishing for your 20s... you'll look back when you're 40 thinking how you'd give anything for those very same 30s. Enjoy what you got, now

goddamn this was one of the staple soundtracks of my life, living with my then gf in our little place, for the first each of us leaving our parents to wade the adult world. we became potheads, listened to quirky trippy stuff, watched tons of movies and shows, animation, invited friends, made many "happenings" (get high, prepared food, eat and watch or listen, or just have cool convos), it was great for the most part. miss those times... because they never come back. I was a 20 something. Now I'm 32 and it's never coming back. I'm looking for other things in life so that experience will never reoccur. The friends are also in differents part of the world, same with my ex. We all drifted appart.
