Excellent video. Thanks for sharing this overview of a complex topic. Very important to research on TBI.

Thank you for taking the time to make such an in depth Video :) there seems to be a very small amount of information on these Networks available on youtube

Absolutely GOLD! Please find the time to expand on this topic. The three major networks are always great to know more about, but the addition of functional deficit or dysfunction as with you mentioning "theory of mind" was really what made this content great. What else that was a huge strength of this video was the neuro-anatomy content which flowed with the other explanatory content. Great job! Please expand on this and/or also cover the minor networks of the brain. How does this relate to neurological findings in autonomic dysfunction, ADHD, autism, dyscalculia, dyslexia, dyspraxia, etc. Too much to ask, I know. Thanks

Great content! Neuro science has advanced so much since my days in medical school 40 years ago. In college, computer scientists talked about “neural networks”.

I want a hyper subjective insight into what could cause pathological mindwandering, in relation to the networks here. What are the possible causes ? (DMN would be main source cognitive state)

Salience network doesn't switch from DMN to CEN when necessary. Studies show this is a problem with executive dysfunction and social skills. its why ADHD meds help.

@@detoursunderstandingacquir7282 what about in something like sluggish cognitive tempo/ cognitive disengagement syndrome? Its a demographic of daydreaming , lethargic and spaced out folk who arent cognitively dumber but still have problems with accuracy of work in comparison to ADHD and neurotypicals. Its basically pathological mindwandering in the flesh, but what causes this overactive DMN usage with wasting dorsal PFC usage? What would cause the salience network to fail and be propense toward DMN? Or is that what happens anyway, when the SN fails? ADHD Meds dont work with them.

I don't know how the author would answer, but my findings are that mindwandering is done in the DMN in connection to anxiety. It is itself driven by anxiety and the lack of CEN activity. If a mindwanderer were to be able to activate its CEN and reduce overdominance of the DMN, the anxiety and mindwandering is gone. - This is achieved using neurofeedback with a frequency of 11 to 14 Hz at the top of the prefrontal cortex (Fz), but also F3 and F4, which are to the left and right of Fz placement. - The high beta frequencies at the P3/4 and T3/4 locations are causing the anxiety but are themselves caused by a high amplitude delta and theta frequencies in the prefrontal cortex, and not enough beta frequency at this location. The DMN and CEN networks are the major arousal regulators of the brain. DMN is predominentely a low arousal network and CEN is a relatively high arousal network, hence if a person has a dominant delta/theta frequency at the prefrontal cortex, the DMN is more likely to cut the CEN out of getting much activation time, hence having more tie to ruminate.

The DMN is not at fault. It is just a playground for the anxiety to run rampant. What causes the anxiety is also causing the domination of DMN over CEN. Fix the arousal levels.

@@detoursunderstandingacquir7282 Wondering if you would have me appear on one of your videos at all? I ingested large amount of industrial chemicals and ended up slow-brained like a zombie and could barely talk (verbal fluency was affected). I had every symptom of those that were floxed by floriquinones. Please let me know if we can use your platform for me to share my story and help others. Many on Reddit and other places are advocating for using, drinking, etc, DMSO which if you get from online places it turns out it ends up being industrial grade dmso with other chemical impurities in it. In my caseI ingested 99% in large volumes and ended up blacking out almost dying from respiratory / CNS depression going towards arrest.

I have a question. Do people with ADHD. have a smaller executive area (pfc?) or just less activation? Thanks
