What’s happening in this Major Payne movie clip?
The major (Damon Wayans who also played in My Family First and The Lethal Weapon) is with Emily (Karyn Parsons from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and The Ladies Man) and Tiger. Tiger tells her that there is a bad guy in his closet, so Payne fires several shots at the closet. Emily runs over, and when Tiger explains the situation to her, she is relieved and impressed, especially when Tiger takes Payne in his arms. But Payne can't manage his emotions and gives Tiger a choke. Emily explains that it was just a show of affection and reassures Payne, which leads them to hold hands.

While payne showed tons of growth and character development him not taking that job might have cost people their lives. He basically traded potential loves just to make the kids feel better about themselves. Although they could have just waited a day and then let him go.

Not really, they had others that could do the job. The General was insisting on Payne because Payne kept saying he wanted to go back, despite more or less getting discharged.

The General was doing it to help a friend who, at the time, wanted to come back, not because Payne was the best. If he was the best, he wouldn't have ended up doing an ROTC class at a school.

A beautiful woman and a bunch of kids made him feel love and his new interest was investing in them, thereby investing in the future. Fostering multiple potential heroes who will go out into the world prepared by his lessons. Without a home to defend, there is no reason to be a warrior. 🤷‍♂️
