You almost need to put a coat of clear coat down and then the black so that black can stick to something. Also I use this stuff for stencils. Avery Dennison Blue Signmask is a 80 micron flexible vinyl film with ultra removable acrylic adhesive. High transparency for precise positioning. Designed to give a sharp edge finish to painted graphics. It is a film product designed for use in large signage applications on flat, curved or irregular surfaces. Features: • Excellent conformability to irregular surfaces • Excellent solvent resistance • High transparency for precise positioning • Clean and easy removability from most substrates • Good adhesion to a wide range of substrates Suitable Applications: • Cars and vans • Emergency vehicles • Buses, trains and light rail • PVC banners • Illuminated signage

A buddy of mine put this new kind of clear bra material on his light and it worked really well. It's way thinner than the old stuff used to be and you can't even see the seem unless you really get close and try to find it. Best part is it was basically free because the guy who did it just used a bit of an off cut from a car he had done. You should learn to do some of this stuff yourself man. It's pretty easy and you save a bunch of money. Been building my own bikes for years now, it's actually a lot of fun.... most of the time.

Jaret, You might want to put on a layer of intercoat clear first before spraying on the letters. The raw steel will resist the paint because it is not allowing it to chemically bind. That is the reason that the paint is lifting when removing the stencil. So, spray on the intercoat clear, let it dry for about an hour or two, scuff it with a red scotch bright pad, clean off all the dust and wipe it down with degreaser, apply your stencil and spray your letters. You should have a perfect result then. Also, thin coats of pain. Ideally, use an airbrush to apply the paint.

before applaying the vinyl but it on a piece of clothes and remove it.. it will make the vinyl less aggressive but still sticks well to the tank.. after finishig if u still have some left on the tank just use an already used masking tape and apply it gently over it and peal it.. it will collect whats left easy...

I feel your pain when shit just always seems to go wrong. There are times when it’s like the world is out to get you lol! Here’s a classic. Ordered a new barbell for my new home gym setup last week. First issue was it was delivered late. When arrived the delivery dude was gone before I got to the door (all deliveries have to be contactless due to Covid restrictions here in NZ). I saw that the heavy duty tube the barbell was packaged in was ripped open at one end as it had got wet. They’d left it outside for a couple of days in the rain!! Clowns!! Then old mate truck driver must have picked it up, and being a 20kg barbell, it’s punched out the end and hit the ground. So the machined edge of the sleeve now looks like shit due to gouges and nicks in the metal! I’m like FML!! Props to the retailer tho, they offered me a partial refund and a store discount so there was some light at the end of the tunnel!

Love the old school Ducati logo. Classic “modern” from 1950’s Italy. Question 1 should the inside of the tank be coated? Question 2 I’d run the bike for a while after reassembly and then remove and replace the fuel filter…… Hey, but totally trusting Dado on those thoughts.

A true low tack stencil, will literally use low tack masking tape (3M etc) as the backing, not a regular sticker backing. There is no way what you've been sold is even close to being lock tack, its not even a stencil, just a sticker that's got the Ducati logo cut as the shadow of the lettering. Low tack will leave no residue whatsoever.

Frustrating! 😬 I had the Termignoni logos laser engraved onto the stainless steel sleeves of my Monster 1100 Evo exhausts and they look superb. Laser engraving actually removes a small amount of metal so might not be the look you're after for the tank. There is also laser etching, which is more like a tattoo and leaves the surface smooth, and that might be a better option. Have a look at the logos on some Termi titanium cans - they're laser etched.
