I really like the project and love the direction it's going. Have you ever thought about doing your explanations as a voiceover while showing what you're doing? It would be easier to visualize your train of thought.

The letter color should depend on whatever color your other trim elements are. If the rest are all anodized or chrome, then chrome. If the other trim pieces are carbon fiber or black, then black.

Interesting idea, I will give that some thought. Thanks for the suggestion.
@RiffleVFXportfolio17 күн бұрын
I feel like it kinda depends the vision you want for the car. I like the idea of a more subtle look, which would be more classy and timeless (see Gordon Murray, Aston Martin, Bugatti) but more contrast with orange would be more extreme but might date it easier, like a Gumpert EDIT: I also think the tailpipe position is interesting and unique on its own, and deserves to stand out. An orange emblem might pull attention away from that

Hi Roger, Happy New Year first of all! Gung hay fat choy 🙂 Those Ferrari tail lights are nice, how expensive were they? Those molds are a lot of work, it's looking ever so nice indeed. The pattern looks very good, it's be awesome. I think the bottom parts will match with that pattern as well. Color of the letters, how does Black fit if the car would be yellow? It could look super, but I love yellow cars 🙂 Hi David, great shop you have, that laser chops through AL like butter. The part looks great, it fits very well. Thanks for taking us along on your build 👍💪✌
@basementsupercarbuild294817 күн бұрын
Thank you sir. The Ferrari lights were about $600 each, not terrible. I paid that much for some aftermarket Camaro taillights that I won’t be using, I need to sell those actually. The car will be the new Corvette C8 orange.

Can you do the center "Wood template" out of brushed stainless steel and do the letters in black? I think the contrast of the Orange the brushed stainless and the black lettering would really pop!

Sure, anything is possible. There won’t be any chrome or other stainless parts visible. I was planning on using black in as many “trim” areas as possible. Thanks for the suggestion.

Regarding emblem colour: I really think that it should match body/grille colour to avoid looking tacky. Ive read a few comments saying it doesn't matter but it really can ruin the look of the rear.
@basementsupercarbuild294813 күн бұрын
So you are saying the word Phoenix should be black “more subtle” and not painted orange like the car? I can also see why that might look better. Thanks for the reply.

That could be done in two parts . It just needed a flange on the cut between the two parts. Then you could use bolts and big clamps to hold it back together. If the cuts were almost perfect no puddy maybe needed. If there was a gap clay slicked over in the mold would fix any micro gap.Then same process as normal and would save the mold. This way you could save it to make another parts or modify the mold for the same part. Either way rock on.
@basementsupercarbuild294816 күн бұрын
Thank you for the information. I will try a two part mold someday, I need the experience.
@adriengadson354416 күн бұрын
@basementsupercarbuild2948 no problem just remember to put wax or mold release or both on the flange. To.make sure it separates without sticking in that area.

Unfortunately, there are a limited amount of different headlights that will work on a car shaped like this. I am using Corvette C7 headlights and the size and shape of the lights determines exactly where they need to be placed in relation to the front tire wheel well arches.
