I love this! Just a suggestion though. As someone who's worked in a hospital kitchen, I was taught to always have the meat on the VERY bottom. Even under all of the cheese and such. This is just because of the fact that meat tends to leak from the packaging. So if it does somehow leak into the drawer below, you would be cross contaminating your cheese and asparagus which is both just very unappetizing and dangerous as well. Keep up the good work!

good advice. I will follow this. Even when the last bucket of my fridge seems to be for vegetables? would my meat stay good?
@Honestbudgeting9 ай бұрын
Your meat will be just fine 🙂 I've always wondered why the fridge companies expect veggies on the bottom. I either put them above or at the same level as my drinks and I put the veggies in a wooden crate. That way if ANYTHING spills it doesn't make the veggies gross

I put sponges in my veggies drawers so it absorbs moisture. If you cut the bottom of the asparagus and then place in glass with a couple inches of water, stems up it will last a lot longer. Parsley and cilantro can be stored this way too ! 👍🏻

Just an FYI - I’ve watched a lot of these videos and they say that the door is the hottest part of the fridge so your milk should be right at the back of the fridge which is the coldest so it doesn’t spoil. Also, the draw compartments have humidity control which prolongs your fruit and veg :)

THANK YOU for a realistic fridge organization video!!! Our fridge is old and small. So many videos have like no condiments, my husband and I have so many plus jarred goodies in our fridge😂 one drawer is now for our jarred condiments, the other for meats and dairy products. Top shelf for leftovers, other two shelves for drinks and produce. Still need to get containers (instead of Pyrex), but it looks so much better already!

I cut vines into smaller groups and wash with water and vinegar or fruit and veggie wash and rinse and then put into container , but only take grapes off the vines in a small batch that would get eaten in 2-3 days (In a smaller separate container)and leave the grapes on vines in the other ! The container with out the grapes on vines , I just refill every few days !

Thank you for showing a real life fridge makeover. Your fridge is real life and relatable. Pro tips from a pro organizer here.... 1. Move the meat to the bottom drawer and put it under a tray. So if you do get leaks nothing get meat juice. Ewww 2. let the strawberries, grapes air dry before putting them in the container the. Put a paper towel for the fruit and lettuce it will make them last longer. 3. I would put the apples on the counter. They are taking up a huge amount of space and are hiding small things in the back. Also the kids will be more likely to grab them if they are out.

Before and after pics are always so amazing. You did a great job considering your fridge is on the small side especially for a family of 6 with small children. To give yourself more fridge space, apples or pears or oranges can be left in a fruit bowl outside the fridge. You may not need 20 cans of pop inside the fridge - just a few and the rest in the pantry and then when you take a few out of the fridge you can replace them. Milk should be in the fridge instead of the door bc it is colder in the fridge unless you drink it fairly quickly. Asparagus in a container with a small amount of water lasts longer. Everyone has a different storage idea depending on how fast you use your groceries. The type of storage is different if you consume your fruits, vegetables and milk, etc. quickly or more slowly.

I recently watched a TikTok video about reorganizing your fridge for ADHD where it goes against the grain and puts condiments down in the produce drawers and moves the produce items into the door shelves. For me, I'm definitely going to try that because I always forget that I have certain produce and I *always* find something that's moldy. I think I'll be more likely to use it if I see it right away when I open the fridge. I don't have nearly as spacious a fridge as you, but we all make due with what we've got! Great job. I just bought some stackable freezer bins last night on Amazon that should get here tomorrow, and I'm *super* excited to reorganize it. I just cleaned out my fridge of old, expired stuff (🤢) and washed the fridge but once I go grocery shopping again, I'll reorganize that too. 🤘

There is hope for my fridge!!! I bought some containers today, knowing that I was going to do my fridge tomorrow! Thank you!! I really needed your inspiration! The bottom of fridge is the worst place to keep meats!!! The top of the fridge is colder and the drawers are not as cold..so meat stays better higher up. I either double bag stuff in ziplocks, or I put them in containers so that they can’t leak. My old fridge actually had a meat drawer that was in the top third of the fridge.

Suggestion - milk is better in the back of the fridge rather than the door. The door is the warmest part of the refrigerator.
@mdf4363 жыл бұрын
Even though most ppl know this, the fridge (which is the same one I bought last year) has the door bins made specifically to hold milk and other jugs of juice and stuff. It’s sort of like a must do with this fridge because of how short the shelves are. And then when you do readjust them to fit milk and other tall things you lose out on the height of the shelves. Its a little annoying but it’s a huge fridge so you can’t beat that for what it was worth.
@dianerobertson79883 жыл бұрын
Once a month or so do a pantry/freezer challenge where you only menu plan from those areas. You only grocery shop for those things you need for that menu plan. The plan can be for 7-14 or more days. You will find that you won’t waste as much food.

I used to have a side-by-side fridge. Soda, in the original box should fit better in your fridge and easier to deal with. Apples in the bottom drawer. Cheeses left in their original bags, contained together, but without lids, to make them more accessible. Asparagus upright in a Mason jar with water, like a vase. Juice and Gerber pouches to the door to free up a flat surface for leftovers. Most side-by-sides were sold with cheese drawers. It's a shame you don't have one. An extra shelf, just over the Chobani would be a great way to store cheeses. IDesign makes a slim bin with a pull handle that would be perfect for such a space. You might need two. A cookie sheet, will probably work even better. Either way, you'll love the extra space! You might not be able to see the cheeses at a glance but with a simple pull you will, yet they'll stay neatly tucked away. Order the extra shelf online. It will be cheaper than you think. Look at minute mark 10:44, you did it. A little lower and your whole life with be transformed. Chow~ EDIT: After some thought, skip the extra shelf idea. OXO's undershelf drawer clips in under the shelf, making use of the vertical space. It's the easiest solution. www.amazon.com/OXO-Grips-Fridge-Undershelf-Drawer/dp/B0BJSF3BCW/ref=asc_df_B0BJSF3BCW/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=642135178513&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=10178379845407696926&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9022837&hvtargid=pla-1944703491721&mcid=e89198d379c438628158789d263bd1da&th=1

I just replaced my 15+ years old fridge so I'm now roaming YT for idea on organizing my new fridge. The new one has less shelves and brackets, so not a lot of flexibility on the position and spacing from shelf to shelf. Also the shelves seem thinner. Speaking of shelves...your tape was left on the side that will be 'protected' by the brackets, but know that these are tempered glass sheets. Tempered glass shatters (explodes to small, dull/not sharp pieces) when the edge is knocked. So make sure that if you pull the shelves for cleaning, not to bump the exposed edges on something hard.
