You would think the local radio station would be broadcasting on their traffic reports for drivers to avoid using key roads near where the major fire is. Would make the emergency responders jobs easier. Then again, who builds a giant oil refinery deep inside an existing city?

Good points
@JimWhitaker2 жыл бұрын
Probably someone who built a refinery in the countryside and watched planners and the $$$$ build the city round it.

Yes, they were starting to get a bit thin. You see the Box had already been put under control . Most companies had taken up and there were only a few companies left on seen. So when it blew we had to resend companies. Also, these refineries have their own fire units. When the Box comes in we already know it's a job because they handle a lot of problems on their own and we never know about it.

Truck 4 at 6:00 came in fast and instead of really checking where to go just goes fast through other traffic 🙈

As being from Philly got to say one of the biggest fires in Philly history
@amott919 Жыл бұрын
Definitely not one of the largest in history. There have been 12 alarm fires before. But this was a very big response.

Not hardly. Try Gulf Refinery 1975. We lost Multiple men, 5 at least. They were using foam naturally, but the fire was still burning under it. When there was a break in the foam blanket the fuel hit a spark off one of the trucks. VC1 - the Photographer. I'm retired Philly dispatcher '77 to 90
