This incident reminded me of the time when I visited Gir National Park in Gujarat, India. It is the only place in the world where Asiatic Lions are surviving. So I was visiting the forest with friends and we had a forest ranger with us who had a wooden baton in his hand. He received information on his radio about the whereabouts of the nearest lion. So we left on foot. This particular lion wasn't aggressive, we were told. Before reaching the spot where the lion was supposedly taking a nap, our guide gave us a few instructions. He asked us to be calm, not make any noise and not to walk quickly or run. He didn't even give us anything to protect ourselves. The man told us not to look at the lion in the eye and not to turn our backs to it. He added that in the rare case if the lion approaches you, you must freeze and not move even a finger. The lion may come and smell you. We asked him "What happens then ?", hoping that he would tell us some defence measure in case the lion attacked. He replied, "Sir. At that point of time, the lion decides what happens"

@justanotherarmyvet2.0 yes I saw the lion sleeping from less than 10 feets away. They have a forest guest house located within the park, which makes it easier for certain visitors to go see the lions at unusual times in case usual safari doesn't manage to get a proper sighting.

@@Seriouslyfunny1 reminds me of people who go into the jungles of the Congo to visit the gorillas. They only have about a 30 minute window to see them and then they have to hike back away from the gorillas. My sister-in-law did that and she really enjoyed it. But it was a little scary, knowing that, the gorillas could do anything they wanted to them and they would be helpless. Along as you are quiet and not threatening, the gorilla encounters go well. They are used to human visitors 🙂

@justanotherarmyvet2.0 oh I never knew that. Gorillas aren't native to India. The only gorillas I've seen were in the Tarzan animated movie haha

@@Seriouslyfunny1 we went to the zoo over the weekend and saw gorillas thorugh a window. And wow, the Silverback was HUGE!! We saw him go after a younger gorilla and it was Scary how fast he could move. They fast and strong!!

The fancy weapon he was mentioning, is the IWI Tavor Tar21 It has a 5.56 NATO round Jacob sir's primary weapon always was AK47 or VZ58

I don't think any SF unit in India used vz 58 when this incident happened cause maj jacob himself joined 9 para in 2000 & they were using vz till 2000 i guess after that tavor became basic weapon for them & No 5.56 can kill a bear if u fire 4-5 shots in his head. I think maj vivek talked about uzi which is of 9mm. One more thing ak is very basic weapon for any force & his unit is oldest, most battle hardened & time proven unit in India right now & they have many weapons & equipments in their inventory not just aks. They have Galil Ar varient M4 sopmod tavor is basic weapon for them Ak103, Ak 203, Ak romania, Scar H & L both varients, AKM,IWI Galatz, IWI Negev LMG, HK416(cause i have seen rare pic of 9 para operative carrying HK416😉), Pika Machine Gun, Gtar, Sig Sauer, Sako Trg Lapua Magnum, Asmi SMG, Dragunov, many more which we don't know about.

@@_nk_______ Yes 1 Para SF 9 Para SF & 10 Para SF, these three units are the Oldest( well 9 being the oldest & OG of all) & all of them used vz 58 in the past like till the end of 90s or the beginning of 2000 after that Tavor became basic weapon for all the units. One more fact Sopmod varient of M4 is now basic weapon for 9 para sf cause they are in constant state of battle so they purchase all these weapons & equipments on unit level.

Indian Army is an officer lead Army but in the west operations are lead by Sergeant

@@Harrylowang I don’t know about all Western countries. But, it is the same in the US as it is in India. Militaries are led by officers and NCOs (sergeants). And officers are higher ranking.
