Great mockumentary satire. Pretty much everyone except Azamat and Pamela Anderson are NOT in on the joke. They are just reacting as though Borat is a real person. The proof is all the lawsuits that came from this movie. The college kids in the camper were 100% real and sued Sacha Baron Cohen for “making them look bad.” The Jewish B&B that they stayed at didn’t know until after filming, when Sacha felt a bit guilty because they treated him so well, so he came back out of character to apologize. He’s only there to make fun of horrible people.

Sasha has put himself in situations where he absolutely could have been murdered, watch Bruno and Ali G to truly understand how far this man will go to fuck with people to make a point. He got Rudy Guliani to take his pants off in front of a girl they told him was 15.

Sasha Baron Cohen, who plays Borat, is a brilliant actor and comedian. He's actually a Jewish man from England, which makes all of the antisemitic stuff he portrays as Borat even funnier. Pamela Anderson, the man playing Azamat, and the woman playing Lynelle were all in on the joke, but everybody else was not. They were told that what was happening was a real documentary following the travels of a journalist from Kazakhstan. Some of the people later filed a lawsuit, claiming they were tricked (including the frat boys in the van). None of them won their suits, because they all had signed releases. You left out of your edit my favorite scene, which is when Borat and Azamat fight, naked, through the hotel. When I watched that the first time, my friend and I were literally rolling on the floor laughing. Glad you posted and enjoyed it. Check out the second Borat film, which is also really funny, and another film he made called "Bruno," which is the same format - he plays a character and nobody knows that he's punking them.

A lot of scenes are unscripted or done around unsuspecting people which is why you get a lot of these reactions. And when they know they're on camera and he acts haplessly ignorant of social values and norms forcing the offended parties to remain professional when obviously perturbed. The character also came from TV, [The Ali G show] where he plays as sometimes Borat, Ali G, and Bruno. You can probably find clips of some of the best stuff. The one where he does like 10+ takes of guys on spring break to see how hyped and excited they could get and then ends with "Brought to you by GAY TV!" and the guy immediately 180 changes his demeanor. Bruno has some hilarious scenes like the entire Jerry Springer rip off scenes.

You COULD make it, but it would either be ignored or, if it got too popular, would have a bunch of activists 'fighting racism and fascism' trying to protest and shut down theatres who play it. If they did it with a movie such as 'Sound of Freedom' which posits the radical idea that children should not be sex trafficked, what do you think they would do with a 'racist' and 'sexist' movie such as this?
@wfly81 Жыл бұрын
@@SerbAtheist They'd complain. But that's all they can do. And people getting offended and crying over a movie is nothing new.
