UPDATES: * You can also swipe up from the bottom of the Start screen, which achieves the same thing (opening Search/Other Programs) as swiping down from the top. * The Other Programs screen has a perspective zoom of the background image when it is enabled. * If you right-click on an app in Other Programs, there is an option to Move to other view" - this moves it to the Start screen. In effect, it pins it to the Start screen! * In this build, the Desktop tile can be resized by right-clicking and selecting Smaller/Larger. No other tiles can be resized.

Windows 8 was the reason that I stayed on Windows 7 until the release of Windows 11. And still now I'm using StartAllBack to get the Windows 7 start menu and task bar back.

man, I remember the YoBettaHideYoPearl registry from back in the day. ...8 had it right. it was snappy even on old rusty 5400rpm drives, and managed to make flat design look good (that's very rare). also, it didn't keep bricking itself like 7 did on my dad's old computer

1:33 I recently got into collecting Microsoft Zune products (Microsofts failed iPod competitor) and while getting into the echosystem and doing a lot of internet searches, I discovereda lot of physical and digital "souvenirs" if you will. As well as installable Windows themes, Windows Media Player skins and the like, one artefact also does include an animated user icon that you can install, and it only works with Windows 8 and 10 (assumingly 11 too but I havent upgraded yet) but doesnt work for 7. So it may be the case the the software engine used for the animated user icons still remains in later Windows products.

2:17 Technically 2nd. The M1 build 7850 technically changes the BSOD too, but it's only a font change compared to the XP-7 BSOD.

it's not just antialiasing, they rewrote the BSOD to support VBE 2.0 however it only occurs during boot until 7899
