@onkativ The original version of the Makarov pistol had a single stack magazine and had the browm bakelite grips. The later version has a staggered stack magazine for more capacity, and therefore the frame is wider to accept the wide mag. So you can't put the brown grips on the Hi-Cap model.

@ojsnell1 Hello - you are quite right about the lead balls deforming. You could shorten the mag spring to make it less strong, but I tend to load fewer balls which does the trick. I have cut several coils off the main recoil spring as well, which makes the gun a lot easier to strip! Take off the coils one at a time until it is softer, but still keeps the slide fully forward. Dont overdo it or you will have a sloppy slide!

Hello BFGGUNS - You are correct about the rifling - I would never put steel bb's in a rifled barrel - it's pointless because they wont grip the rifling and will only damage the bore. The issue with Lead Round Balls is that they are very soft and the magazine follower is small and has a strong spring behind it. If you only use part of a mag, and keep topping it up, the ball at the bottom of the stack will become distorted and will eventually jam. Answer - only load 12 shots at a time.

@theme57 sorry, no can do, you would have to bore out the barrel, plus make a complete new magazine and co2 gas valve. May as well build one from scratch.

@TheKenny951 In short, a huge amount of difference. I like Umarex in general, but on this one there is no contest. The Baikal is actually a re-engineered real Makarov pistol - same springs, same trigger, same steel. It strips exactly as the real Makarov does, because it is the real Makarov, just converted to co2. Get one - you wont be sorry.

Hi, do you know whether I'd be able to put brown grips onto a baikal like the umarex has, or is that not possible? Great review, thanks!

What is the difference between the umarex makarov and baikal
@onkativ14 жыл бұрын
Seen as you have reviewed both makarovs, do you think it would be possible to change the baikal grips to brown ones, maybe from an umarex? Great vid, thanks!

I find that the lead balls tend to deform slightly in the magazine, as like everything about this gun, the magazine spring is pretty stiff! Any suggestions how to get around this? (Great review by the way.)

If you are in the UK - Google russmilitary - they have spares of seals, mags and sometimes real Russian leather holsters.

@Kereyuli Personally, I would go for the Makarov every time, the Beretta is good, and it is more accurate, but the Makarov is the real thing and is great fun to use.

@Yamato360 - which country do you live in?
@howardmaryon14 жыл бұрын
@dasvolksjager I think that I recall that this particular gun was banned from import into the U.S. and Canada because it is a reverse engineered firearm. There is a chap from Canada who has one and he has made a good video about it on youTube - look him up and ask him where he got his.
@howardmaryon13 жыл бұрын
@TheKenny951 In some countries you can buy teargas capsules for blank guns, but to be honest, I would not risk my life firing one at a determined attacker. I would rather have a real can of Mace, or similar.

@mr16burgtj - I made a lanyard out of paracord (lots of vids about paracord on YT) and put a cheap keychain clip on it - very cheap

@happygo233 just google rusmilitary, who sell the gun, holsters, magazines and seal sets. They were also imported by SMK, but they are no longer on their website.
