Hi...I'm so sorry to seem critical or disrespectful in any way, but just a suggestion that it may be better for everyone if this video was taken down so people don't spend time doing this and not get monetized because they don't see this video you linked where you say not to do this if you want to be monetized. AIso, this comment doesn't explain about no monetization it just says "a better way". Here's a gem to avoid getting you "rain video" demonitized. During editing every 15 minutes add text to your video. I add a timestamp on screen so if someone wakes up and glances at the screen they can see how long they been sleep. This is so you don't get demonitized for looping

The only challenging thing is getting the videos to loop and be longer. Most of the videos with rain sounds are at least 3 hours and up to 10 hours,…wow I did an hour and a two hour video. I have work to do!

FYI, the new monetization policies make very difficult to monetize a channel when you use someone else's videos or images. Even if they are free to use. KZbin will say that your channel has "reused content" and it would be a nightmare to try to monetize. Use your own footage, and music to be able to get approved for monetization when creating content 👍🏻

Sorry to break this to you, but recently YT has been going through and demonetizing "ambient" videos, claiming that they are simply taking an image, adding a looped sound effect, and posting it without adding significant "value" to the video. I know this because I had an ambient channel that was growing significantly, and without warning, YT stopped paying me. They denied all my appeals as well, even though my content was actually original. I connected with other Ambient creators and they have all been experiencing the same thing (even the bigger channels). Seems as if it was too good to be true.

I literally cannot sleep without one of these on in the background before I go to sleep. My favourite one is rain sound with the forest of dead trees in the background. It’s a soft rain and the forest is dark so it’s very relaxing puts me to sleep in literally five minutes.

Hey guys, I did not follow through due to not being that technical (I did try but it just isn’t for me. I am more of a content creator than a video editor). Here is some advice on being able to monetize though from an article that I found: “If you want to make money with rain sounds on KZbin, you have to be accepted into the KZbin Partner Program first. In other words, you need 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 hours of watch time over 12 months. Compared with making money through other content types, monetizing rain sounds on KZbin is not so easy. May 8, 2023” If you’re really dedicated to growing this channel and operating is as a business than go ahead. For me this wasn’t a passion so I gave up after reading the above article. I knew I wouldn’t stick w/ something that I wasn’t thrilled to do. But if you are interested research how others have done it and if you have the time and enthusiasm for editing go for it! @sallynjeri-pg1cp

You were born for this, I love the big energy you bring! Great advice & I appreciate you were honest about getting subscribers. I started an ambient sound channel 10 months ago, upload a video almost every. Watch time & views isn't the issue, you'll get those in no time, getting those subscribers are the biggest hurdle. There really isn't a help video to address the subscriber issue specifically to our type of ambient sound channels. Your video, is the video that popped up when I went looking for subscriber issue with black screen channels. Hopefully you'll figure it out and share it with us.

@@kailanistegehuis2460 nope, not enough subscribers yet. Plenty of watch time hours though. A lot of people who help other youtubers are now saying that it's over saturated and believe youtube doesn't want to do partnerships with channels that basically put people to sleep. Something obviously changed with the algorithm last summer. My videos would get 80 to 90 views almost as soon as they premiered, but since the fall, new videos only a few views over the course of the entire week. Some of my older videos from early last year are getting consistent views still. Some people believe that mass produced sounds that basically everybody uses, youtube recognizes it as stock, unoriginal content, so they don't push those videos anymore. A lot of speculation though, so take it with a grain of salt. I'm still doing it, but it just a hobby for me now.

Actually, they are demonetizing so many of these channels for looping content aka "reused content." So don't start this unless you can use your own rain footage, your own sounds with random sounds, be onscreen typing, studying with sounds in background thrown in occasionally. Otherwise, they'll say you looped a 30 second clip up to 8 hrs and demonetize you.
