Great video. It seems that griddle is out of stock currently and no dates when they’ll have more. Too bad

Thats unfortunate, there's other brands though.

The thing I want most is that slightly curved cooking area, enough to keep eggs in the middle but flat enough for burgers. Commercially available scuttled are way overpriced and looking forward to experimenting on different setups. I hadn't thought of conduit I was going to use threaded pipes. Also looking for ideas on bracket for the burner if you want to make it taller and save table space.

I have had one of these for a while. Next time I set it up I will take photos. I bought 2 sets of amazons cheapest trekking poles with rubber handles. I drilled the rubber handles on them so they would slide over the legs of the bayou classic legs. The length of the leg slides inside the trekking pole and the hole in the rubber handle grips the leg. For the stove to sit on I took 3 eye bolts drilled through the trekking pole legs so the eyes were under the cook surface then set a pizza pan on the eye bolts which the stove sits on. It makes it very stable and adjustable from about 20 inches to 60 if the legs/trekking poles were fully extended. All of it packs into an old cymbal bag I bought at a yard sale. The one thing I wish I had done was spent a bit more on the trekking poles for the type that have lever locks per section instead of the twist type. My next thought is to use a burner from a turkey fryer that can connect to a std propane tank for extended camping trips and heating up the cooking surface quicker.

That's one way of doing it. Seems like a nice set up. Thanks for the comment.

Something I have done for years that makes an amazing cooking stove, even used it for heat in a tent while camping in the Colorado Mountains is an Toilet Paper Alcohol Burner, You buy a quart size paint can empty, then take the cheapest single-ply toilet paper and 2 skewers or popsicle sticks. You want to unwind the toiletpaper off the cardboard roll to make a roll of toilet paper with no hole in the middle. I take the toilet paper, stick it on a rod, then pull the end off and wrap a few times around the skewer or stick tightly, then i use the 2nd one to clamp it so it doesnt pull off. Then using my electric drill i spin off the toilet paper slowly making a tightly wodded roll of toilet paper. Then you stuff it down the into the paint can and just fill the can with normal cheap isopropyl alcohol to the top edge of the toilet paper. The toilet paper acts as a giant wick and when you light it, you can get flames as high as 4 feet if you dont control the air. I just use 4 rectangle bricks that are taller than the quart size paint can, then put them around the can on end to give yourself a surface to sit your pot or pan on. I just carry an old 12 inch cast iron pan i cut the handles off in a shallow tupperware container. The Tupperware container allows me to store it away in the truck without its surface rusting. The paint can don't even get hot, it's only the top 1/2inch of the paint can that gets hot. so you can sit it on things without it melting also, so ive used it on the tailgate of my truck multiple times to bring the cooking up to my level. The alcohol in the can last a very long time surprisingly. in regards to the Isopropyl alcohol, get 99% if you can, it works the best and doesnt freeze during winter.. the 70% is harder to light at times and doesn't burn as hot, 50% cheap stuff barely works, basically useless as a stove.

That's crazy, I never heard of doing that before. Sometimes I just used denatured alcohol and a penny stove to boil water lol. Thanks for that, I'll have to find a video of that being done.

That's a nice idea, I lucked out about a year ago and found a full size firedisc for under 200. Honestly haven't used it much as I use a charcoal weber to cook around the house. But plan to heavily utilize on an upcoming camping trip. Another idea to heat it quicker maybe. Get a pot burner and set it on that, should heat up much quicker.

They’re also called a discada. Get yourself a new carbon steel plow disc and weld up the hole then some nuts to thread the legs. The money they charge for those is criminal.

@@OverlandFlorida Both the Discada and the Skottle have similar origins. Boer farmers in South Africa took plow discs similarly how hispanics did to make campfire meals. The original intent was good simple food made cheap on something available that was cheap. I see these things selling for hundreds of dollars like wow. Crazy.

The prices of these brand name skottle is absolutely insane. Good start.
