Thank you I appreciate that very much. I started carving before computers so I had to rely on books and carving clubs that I belong too. Then it was VHS tapes and when the Internet came along it was wonderful and KZbin is the best thing that ever happened for wood carving. Wood carving is a wonderful hobby I hope you find great joy in it.

Thank you for this. I never heard of Warren Cutlery blades. I love the Lockjaw Handle. Do other companies sell that style of handle?

Thanks Mark. I made some carving knives from a saw blade and just cant seem to get a edge on it. I even bought a cheap pairing knife from Wal Mart and re-figured it for carving, it does pretty good but still doesn't suit me. I think I will get some of these. I have a big pile of old walnut boards for handles.

That’s awesome! Yeah, for years I tried to make my own blades with no success. I bet the walnut will make beautiful handles.

I have made a knife like yours! still working on handle shape. BUT, are you still going to show how to change the bevel to a flat grind? Been looking everywhere!

Thanks for the reminder, completely forgot I was going to do that video. I won’t work on it.

BTW, Harbor Freight does not seem to have the packs of the 5/32" drill bits anymore. Ordered a piece of brass rod that promises to be 5/32 not 4mm like most of them on Amazon.

Great video thanks ! I'm considering buying some Warren blades to try this. At the end of your video you talk about another video where you will work on the edge of the blade. Do you still plan to make this video ? It would be very usefull for a lot of people I think ! Or do you recommand a video from another youtuber ? Also you say that it will be specifically for soft wood, so does it mean that you recommand keeping the factory bevel for harder wood ? Thanks again !

Thanks for your comment I really do appreciate it. It helps guide me as to the next videos. I will be doing one on blades sharpening and strapping very soon.

Hi Mark, just found this video. Looking forward to making my own handle. Youmention doing a video on thinning the blade to a flat grind..... I can't seem to find it. Is there some other video you recommend to see this process?
@markdmaker31733 ай бұрын
Sorry for the delayed response. Hi am on the fence about flat grind blades. I have one flat grind blade and the cutting edge keeps rolling and breaking on me. The scanty edge with the micro bevel. It seems works so much better. I will keep experimenting And I will do another video as soon as I figure out what’s going on.

Great video, ty. Everytime I go to buy these blades , the site is sold out of them unfortunately.

Yes, supply chain issues. You can also order them from tree line, Sugar Pine carvers, Mountain carvers, just about all woodcarvings supply companies.

Where and what company can I buy the blanks so I can make my own knife???
@markdmaker31736 ай бұрын
Thanks for your question. I used a warren cutlery blade from www.warrencutlery.com. A lot of knife makers will sell you just the blades like OCC and Helvie Knives.

where can i buy these blades.
@markdmaker31733 жыл бұрын
Most wood carving catalogs carry these blades. Warrencutlery.com is the manufacture and you can buy directly from them.

I cant find the video where you customize the blade... remove the bevel...thin out blade??
