I made similar mods 20 years ago as a kid, but there was a pistol with some blue caps that were much more powerful. The BBs were propelled at such speed they even penetrated slightly into soft wood.

You could increase the accuracy of your gun using epoxy and gliding a 6.25mm stainless barrel into it so the BB goes in a straighter, more direct line

jimmi der Umm yeah the velocity is measured when the projectile exits the muzzle, and it slows down drastically because of air resistance. The bb is not going to travel 60 meters in a second even if the muzzle velocity is 200fps. A .12 gram bb hitting the paper shouldn't have a big impact when shooting somewhere around 200 fps anyways. you know: E=1/2mv^2 (the weight counts also). You can't accurately tell whether the bb is going 200 fps but it's somewhere near 200 fps. Even 300fps is relatively low muzzle velocity when talking about airsoft guns.

That's a pretty cool idea and pretty simple. I bet it's inaccurate as hell though. The thought of a airsoft gun that makes a noise like a cap gun is cool, more realistic than a ugly sounding aeg, and would make gas blowback so even cooler. Imagine if a professional airsoft manufacturer came out with a GBB that also fired caps (but didn't use them to propel the bb, they used gas so the action would cycle too) it would be a awesome airsoft gun, I'd certainly buy one. I like realism in airsoft guns, woos stocks, metal and like she'll ejecting guns but they are way too akward to use for a airsoft game, but cool can plinkers.

You don't have to take it off. You could just burn a hole in the tip. I just used a solder to get burn the tip. Also, make sure to use a mask.

The Blue Baron I would recommend using a drill bit of a similar size. I would not suggest removing the external part of the orange shroud. For legal reasons. As for placing another barrel inside, I wouldn't suggest it. The cylinder in these cap guns do not fix themselves at specific angles, and would very often be misaligned with the inner barrel when firing.

Interesting transformation of a regular cap gun. However, much of the pressure generated inside the cylinder by the very low powder charge is lost inside that large gaping barrel tube. What might be interesting to try is inserting a section of aluminium tube with a 6 mm inner diameter (airsoft BB caliber) while ensuring that the cylinder exit holes matches up with that new "barrel" of sorts: the higher pressure thus generated will increase BB muzzle velocity, with accuracy of a kind seen in airsoft guns: a sized "barrel" will allow a longer projectile acceleration time. As the plastic barrel interior diameter seems fairly large (10 mm?), two superposed pieces of aluminium tube may be required to achieve this objective: you will need to experiment. The main question is whether it then becomes a "firearm", according to Canadian law: be careful.

The bb's are 6mm. What you think of is the weight of the bb, the weight doesn't really matter, tho I prefer to use a 12g bb, because it shoots a little bit faster, the more heavy bb's like 20g is just more accurate

Jordan Robinson That depends on the distance. I have a little cheap steel bb gun that shoots at 20 fps and it can go through a thick paper target from up to 6 feet away. It isn't c02 powered, just spring powered. It is single shot.

True, but you also have 2 remember that the heaver the ammo the faster it drops. So depending on the distance it could do just as much damage as a plastic bb. This does not apply 2 real fire arms. The gun powder can make a bigger bullet go further, like .50 cal bullets for example.

+Username and Password in airsoft , in the us, the orenge tip is just an indicator to the seller that is is a toy, high end airsoft guns often come with threaded barrels and lightly glued covers to make it easier to remove, i'd look into yourself if you plan on waving it around much, otherwise you should be ok, you could keep the peice of plastic handy to act as a barrle cover? i just realised you commented this 5 days ago so you probably dont care, have a good one anyway

You should get a tighter fit barrel & a longer barrel wont hurt either...accuracy&power in airsoft guns are partly also sorta linked to barrel length
