Many people commenting "use grease, bread" etc. That method is useless if the bearing is not sealed or the cavity has an oil gallery etc. Thanks for the video, I finally removed a stubborn bearing today using this as a basis for a design.

You can take a rod the size of the inner hole in the bearing, then pack the hole with grease. Place the rod in the hole and strike with a hammer and the grease will force the bearing out. Old mechanics trick!

Or bread will work too. Although this is a good tool for when there is a hole behind that the packing trick won't work on

Great Solution, Design seems specific for particular size. It is dificult to use for various size bearings to pulled out.

Make inner shims of various thicknesses to accommodate different inner race IDs; make the basic tool to pull the smallest bearing you wish to work with and add inner shims to work on the larger ones.

Yeah convenient. Anyway you can just use bread. No gap needed under the bearing.

I shoot grease in the bearing cavity and use a punch or piece of stock ground to fit through I.D.. Hammer punch and hydraulic pressure removes the bearing, works every time. Thank you for posting this, good tool making skills.

great tool build its amazing with the tools wich you are using dont get me wrong wich are home made and very well made you accomplished making a very totally funktional tool. i am a machinist and have a lathe and mill and i really dont think i could make that tool any better than you for funktionability.

i had the same problem on a car gearbox , you can force the bearing out with well soaked bread !! push the bread into the centre of the bearing find a quite good fit bar and hammer it in thus forcing the soaked bread behind the bearing and forcing it out amazing but it works i think there are videos on youtube about it

@@snoyes34231 Yup. I usually use silicone wax, as it's much easier to clean up after. This guy's idea isn't bad (I've done similar, but not for blind bearings). However, you'd have to make one for every size bearing shaft you could come in contact with. I bet it took him the better part of a full day's work to complete this. The bread or silicone trick would've had you done and moving on w/in ~5min.

Great idea but if have larger or smaller bearings might not work same.. a small slide hammer kit with the 2 hook style is what I have from Cornwell tools.. just the lip of the hooks get mangled or bent kinda easy.. iv had to warranty it twice

Shove bread or silicone wax into the bearing's hollow shaft. Take a piece of the appropriate sized shaft steel and pound it into the hole. The bread/silicone will force the bearing out (hydraulic pressure). You're done in under 5min, you didn't have to make a custom tool, and it'll work for almost any sized bearing.

Instead of taking help with heavy tools to make bearing puller.... You can remove bearing in cheaper way.... Just break candle in small pieces and fill in middle hole of bearing and tap with same size of bearing hole bolt which can easily move around in bearing hole tap tap until bearing come out.... But it work when other side of bearing cover with part surface

hmmmm. just take short pieces of rods at different diameter. split one end. insert the spit end in the blind hole bearing and jamm at the splitt a wedge. Then pull, or hammer out. I have to admit you did a nice tool that you can use for 1000 projects...

4 hour to build an only use once in a lifetime, very specific to one size bearing , what if the next one doesn't have clearance for the puller? grease,, a punch and hammer would have had that bearing out before a guy would have finished taking measurements for tool design
