Thanks for posting these videos! You BY FAR have the easiest and most complete videos for knife sheaths. Made a few prior to starting this series but my sheath game has stepped up significantly since watching these. Have you thought of making a video for a sideways or angled carry sheath? Would love to understand that process more. Please keep up the great work!

Thank you Nolan. What a nice compliment and I’m glad they’ve been helpful to ya. Ironically, my next video brewing is a scout carry for an ESEE PR4 spear point which rides horizontally on the belt. I also have several styles of crossdraw sheaths which I’ll show as well down the road. Seriously appreciate you taking a moment to say so. 🙌

I've been making knives and sheaths for a couple of years now, but am still eager to pick up any usefull tips. You Sir are a great teacher and off course leather worker. Thank you so much for taking the time to do these videos. Greetings from Denmark

Morning George! Been using your cam lock on a lot of my builds now , thank you fer that !!! I have a customers blade , big stag handled blade someone made him from a file , made two sheath as so far for it and have not turned out ta my liking . Blade and handle are huge , handle has a curve to it that's killing me ? Second sheath I added a double Walt towards handle and thinking now should have tripled it ? Got blade in New sheath wet molded blade in to it and can't get it back out now that it's dry ! Very frustrating !!!

Sorry for the delay in responding John. Thanks for the kind words. Sounds like the problem sheath is meant for a scabbard style sheath but I can't visualize the issue. If you want you could call or text me with photo's and we could talk thru the solve. I'm in Arizona time (520) 909-8256

Thanks for joining me. I cater these towards the beginner sheath makers and knifemakers who do their own sheaths. I have shown in Volume 1 and 5 using a drill press which is common for newbies trying to sew thru 1/2 inch of leather. Using a diamond awl takes years to perfect as does a sewing machine I might dedicate one video to my unorthodox method using a dremel drill press

Wouldn't it make more sense to leave the paper folded to begin with and cut both sides out at once? I think the accuracy of the template and ultimately the cutting of the leather would be more precise. My $.02. I like the whole process though, very well done.
@viktorgeorge9144
@viktorgeorge9144 9 ай бұрын
Thank you Mitchell I find that I can cut the mirrored side of the card stock pattern easier and more precise that way, probably just out of habit and repetition. I see your point, but I’d probably cut into the pattern if it stayed folded :) i appreciate the kind words and respect your .02 👍

Do you always use a 3/8" seam allowance?
@viktorgeorge9144
@viktorgeorge9144 Жыл бұрын
Hey Terry Yes 3/8 welt on this one but I like a 1/2inch seam allowance on most larger knives.
@viktorgeorge9144
@viktorgeorge9144 Жыл бұрын
A better answer Terry is no. 3/8” welts are more streamlined to the knife and I usually use 1/2” Beefier and allows double row stitching which I like. Cheers
