dude, you have GOT to read "mysterious skin" by scott heim. it's about two boys that were both sa'd by their baseball coach, and how they deal with it (in very, VERY different ways). the writing is beautiful, the characters are so interesting, and one of them reminds me a lot of your guy here :)
