I need to add both these to my shooting board. Particularly the donkey ear. A nice, well made video. Thank you Carl.

Hi Carl, Great see you have a channel. I took some classes from you some years back at Cerritos. Always enjoyed it. My bench has been a faithful companion for years now. Hope you are doing well. Regards Dan Miller

Hi Dan. Good to hear from you! I think I remember you well. Didn’t I get my bench base material from you? All good here. Retirement has been great so far.

@@CarlStammerjohn - Yes. You have a good memory. I was given a bunch of left over lumber from my boss's house. I thought it was fir but when we dug it out turned out to be redwood. It's still holding up my bench. I saw you retired a few years ago from Cerritos. I sent a note off to them asking for your mailing address to send a card but never heard back. Anyway, great to get in touch with you. I always appreciate your enthusiasm for woodworking. We moved back to TX about 15 years ago. If you ever get to Austin/San Antonio area let me know.

Hi, thank you for a clear and concise explanation of how to build this jig. I was wondering if your shooting plane was home made? It looks as attractive as it is effective. Thanks, Mike from the UK.

Yes, I made the shooting plane. It’s based on a Krenov-style wood plane. I’ll be posting some videos on how to make it in the next couple of months.

@@CarlStammerjohn I came here to ask you about the shooting plane too, please do post a video about that. I wonder about also having a tongue on the plane that rides in a groove on the shooting board to ensure that it always tracks correctly.

I suggest using a riving knife with your table saw.
@CarlStammerjohn

I agree that would be a good idea, but there is no way to add a riving knife to this old saw (Powermatic 66). I do have a splitter for it; you can see it at 08:18 sitting on the fence. When installed, it extends above the table by about 1/2". I don't have it installed during the video for a couple of reasons: 1) I'm using a sled with a 1/2" thick base, making the splitter useless, or 2) The cut is shallower than the splitter height, so the splitter would interfere with the cut. I could have used it at 09:22 when making the deeper rabbet cut, but I forgot to install it...

Just the information that I was looking for to do my Christmas gift boxes. (Better than wrapping paper AND with secondary uses in the future for the recipient.) Thanks Carl, and blessings to you and yours!

Carl - just finished mine and well, it doesn't work. I followed your build using a track saw in place of table saw in some steps. Checked for square and 45 every possible way I know how as I went. If you ever start making these for people put me on the list.

Sorry to hear that. It can be a bit tricky to get things to align correctly. Did you attempt to tweak it? It is designed so you can do that without too much trouble.
