I've got my first little dusty to set up this month. No overhead collection on my CTS, but it actually spits the sawdust out quite well being a job site saw. It's probably not usually used with an extractor, but I have the fun of ducting it all ahead of me to keep the workshop clean.

Great video mate! Might give this a shot on my little dewalt saw too eventually, try and keep some more of the dust at bay. Loved the glue incident haha, I had a similar one years ago where the fumes sent me crazy - During my civil construction days I had this old tipper truck and the seal thing on the door had come loose and was driving me crazy, so I took the only adhesive I had at hand (pvc glue) and put it back together, then proceeded to drive to the makeshift quarry in the middle of town (postquake christchurch) anyway the fumes must've gotten to me as at one point I turned the wrong way down a one way street, had to quickly mount the footpath when I realised and 3 lanes of traffic was heading straight to me! Opened the windows after that and took a 5 minute breather!!! Happy new year mate!

Happy New Year to you too Sam. I know the stuff is potent, what made it worse is i don't have a sense of smell, no mask and the fan was off. A truck would be hard to turn around, things like that you never forget. Sounds like you were lucky, no accident and no ticket.

Hi from Australia!! Great design and build adaption for your SawStop and an awesome video as well. I have overhead extraction which allowed me to drop a vacuum hose down to the blade guard. Something to watch is the 100mm hose inside the base of the cabinet can block. I cut about 75mm off the length then reconnected it. Now it doesn't have a low spot for dust to collect. I have subscribed to your channel and will watch a few older videos. I would love to know another Aussie has checked out my channel so let me know if you do. Regards James One Handed Maker

Hi James, I have started watching your channel and hit the bell. It has some pretty good stuff. I am glad you found me, there are quite a few aussie wood worker channels out there, my favorites are @fixitfingers @woodfather @dainermade and @downunderwoodworks Drop a comment on their videos too and I am sure they will check out your channel too. Nicely done! I’ve been thinking about making something like this. Do you get pretty good suction on the overhead arm. I was gonna have mine run off a shop vac, but was curious what you thought.
@Saw-IT
@Saw-IT Жыл бұрын
Admittedly it is pretty weak suction but mine is just enough to pick up dust with my old dust extractor connected. The sawstop dust guard is designed pretty good and dust is directed straight to the air inlet making it worthwhile. Sawstop does not provide the specifications of the required dust extractor making the arm a bit of a con if your dust extractor is not powerful enough and a lot of Amazon reviews complain about this. Mine has less 90 degree bends which helps with air flow. You might have noticed i had a spare straight though fitting i can use to swap out the 4 inch > 1.5 inch T connector if needed.

🤔if I got that right and did my math correctly, you saved $370?! What would I do with it? I would buy a Bosch Professional GTS 635-216 table saw and have $40 left over for a couple of six packs and a steak. 😜 Good video and congratulations on 1,020 subs 👍

Really? wouldn't you prefer a plastic dust arm? lol thanks Big T

You're excused for the glue-up "faux pas" Just blame it on being "high" because of the adhesive fumes 😜

Thanks Shawn, That blue stuff makes it impossible to hide stupid mistakes haha. The thing is, i could have just as easily used silastic to hold that part together so it was a real faux pas.

I am also going to make a cheap version of their "Folding out feed table" and am now expecting a knock on my door one night haha. They want $1900 ringgit for a couple meters of square tube. lol You can buy from them 4 optional rollers to make it work better for another $307 ringgit
