I have long dreamed of such a machine in my workshop. Many knives have become dull a long time ago. So I decided to make it myself from available and available materials. Step by step.

Excellent. Just what i need . simple and effective. If you don't have parts shown in the video it's very easy to replace them with something you have on hands. No high tech, high price items. Will definitely make one for myself. Thanks a lot. Good like with the channel. Stay safe.

Awesome! I was looking for one that would be realistically doable for me. Pity for the clamp though... so much creativity, yet he still ends up using 2 screws to hold the knife down... you need to find a way for a quick release clamp, bro. You can do it! I sure will for myself. Thanks for the idea!

It's a very good idea. Dont you wanna use trox screw in the front where it holds the knife in the jig? Also don't you wanna use a diamond stone instead of the sand paper?

Thank you. Here you can use any fastening that your imagination can use. I use diamond blanks on another machine. I did not find such long diamonds for this machine.

Nice to see a "homemade" knife jig that wasn't built by a guy who has $20.000 worth of equipment in his "garage." The average Joe can build this without the big money machines. Not dishing them, but not everybody has access to all that. And what grits of sandpaper do you recommend? Thanks if you respond.

Seems there's compromise with every jig. With this one it's the use of sandpaper. I was born with jigs-in-place; my two hands, along with a collection of stones - kept flat - they have served me well. I don't even send out my straight razor but use a 10,000 grit followed by 15,000 and then a lot of stropping.

You can see from the paper cutting that the blade isn't sharp and is snagging. This seems like a good tool to set an accurate edge on a blade. But you should now run that knife over a honing steel to make it truly sharp.
