We don't have a laser cutter, but our daughter and son in law have been making us adorable houses, a decorated box for a gift card,, HO train buildings, and a picture frame for our newest furbaby. We've seen their laser cutter in action for other projects. But to watch you cut houses similar to what we received this Christmas is fun! I love this video! I use material that’s labeled as “snow blanket” as a base to put my village on. It’s really flat, almost like a flannel or felt sheet. Then I use powdered fake snow that comes in bags to add in specific places. I love the addition of the driveway and truck too. The entire scene you made is so cute! I hope your family has a very Merry Christmas!

I’m a crafter and I just put down fake snow on my Hanukkah village. It looks fantastic and I bought it at the Dollar Tree. It’s in the automotive section and is made by Driver’s Choice and called “Super Soft Microfiber Cloth”. It’s 16” x 24”. It’s white, fluffy and extremely soft. You will love it. And you can’t beat the $1.25 price.

Hi Sallie, I have a laser and have made the same mistake as well. Your cut is salvageable! Just take a razor blade knife and make your cuts in the slats a little bigger and reinforce with your glue. I threw so many projects out in the beginning of my learning process doing the same. 🤷‍♀️ Love your videos, Merry Christmas !

Pulled apart cotton balls might make better snow or if you want more permanent snow use tub caulk. Your house looks wonderful. My mom made miniature dollhouse and room vignettes to scale. 1"=1 foot or 1/2"= 1goot and she did micro minis where 1/4"= 1foot. Look up miniature dollhouse on you tube. It's quite the rabbit hole!!

Can I ask a question? I bought this cottage in Dec. and was going to cut it but Lightburn is saying it has 482 shapes were set to fill but they weren't closed. Did you have this issue? If so, how did you fix this?

Great video!! Such a cute house----LOVE the way you decorated it!! Could you use that "Snow-tex" paint that gives texture as you paint it onto an area. I bet if you looked in Hobby Lobby when they first put out Christmas items, you'll find something to use!! I looked on Amazon and found Vallejo Snow that folks use when they make diaoramas. Just a few ideas to check out. Where do you buy your large pieces of 1/4" for your laser? I'm sure it's much more economical than buying those sheets designed for the Glowforge (which you don't need b/c your laser is larger!!) Thanks so much for sharing your darling house. I've been down for a few months and not able to do any crafting, Watching you make your house really made me want to find some kind of crafting to do while I'm on bed rest.
