It doesn't matter how many times I've watched this performance from various camera angles. This is perfection as far as I'm concerned.

springbay1 visually and how they play, I agree. But with the way the music portrays Sing Sing Sing, I just can’t watch this.

Videos going back several years show how the band trains endlessly to learn how to take 8 steps in exactly 5 meters. Those tape marks on the floor are 5m apart. Now watch the opening number and note how they hit this stride perfectly, the drum major in particular. Count off the steps between the markers. There is more to this stride than simply looking pleasing. The criss-cross patterns depend on each band member being at the precise location at all times. Otherwise, there would be collisions. The 8 stride/5 meter marching stride makes it possible. I just attached a subwoofer to my computer setup. I now realize that I have missed a great deal without the sub. I always thought the band was quiet on its feet out there. Not so! You hear to gymnasium floor rumble as they do their thing. And the percussion section comes to life! BOOM! BOOM! Now I have to go back and watch the old videos again to get the full effect. I can hardly wait to hear what Tippi's drumbeats really sounded like.

The 8 strides to 5 meter I had seen in a mention about standardising stride length but I did not know about the tape marks. I thought the tape was something to do with a particular game played there. It is good to see them hitting the mark. You don't manage that without some fair amount of practice. Someone commented with another video that they run 2 miles a day as well. That goes a very long way to explaining their fitness levels and lung capacity. Someone has counted steps and in some places they are going at a rate of 288 foot movements a minute. I think that is in short bursts, not that they make 288 steps a minute. I think, someone correct me, Light Infantry march at 120 paces a min and Double at 180. Complicated way of saying thanks for you post and most defiantly thank you KT SHS Band.
Unfortunately neither link is available (at least to me in the U.S.) :-(

If you want a humbling experience, isolate one band member and follow them through the entire routine. You will witness utter perfection! Each and EVERY band member performs perfectly. It’s no wonder they look and sound so great!

3:20 ~ 3:45 - their formation went from 3 groups to capital 'T', and formed a big square in just about 8~12 beats respectively! Kyoto Tachibana's amazing students are really at a different level!

Did you notice the changes?... Still the same outstanding fantastic band!...

The band has changed all of their numbers this year, which is good. The act was getting a bit stale. The new routines still play much of the same music, but the choreography is different, and better in my opinion. I very much enjoy working the "Tachibana Tension" into the opening number. Laughs and smiles all the way around! But I still miss the Star Wars Cantina lead-in to SSS.

How can a group of amateur high school students display such mastery and synchronization while performing such a physically punishing dance routine? They need not worry about medals or competitions anymore; they are on another planet, they are in another universe.

Hi just me how I miss my girls Miss watching my band I guess they're out for the holidays but I wish you all luck and happiness and hope they have lots of fun and be safe I love the girls they look sharp but I haven't seen them because I guess they're on holidays y'all take care I love each and everyone and the staff to have a beautiful New Year's love you all
You are so right! I always enjoy their thoroughly PROFESSIONAL intonation especially. As a musician, I hope all the bands in 日本国 continue to focus on things like intonation and balance, and never worry about playing loudly-- those basics will create enough volume and prevent a "blatty" sound.
🦂Bravo Maeda, sempre ottimi video. Italia 04/12/23

Not being from Japan I do not fully understand the rules and criteria used for the judging, I do know however that the Kyoto Tachibana are the best in the world ! Looking at the performance then I would reluctantly have to drop them some points for the formation change left of screen at 3:00 that had the curve in it :( It was strange to see someone conducting !
@MaelsVi4 жыл бұрын
Well, the way they were coming from, and the fact that they had to change foot timing (if you look closely they switch from double time on the turn) I think the curve was inevitable
